Sure, the gameplay had it's flaws, but I enjoyed the game heavily nonetheless, and the presentation happens to be my favorite this year.
I played this game more than any this year. It was (and still is) unbalanced as shit, but the core gameplay is the most addictive in a long time.
This had to be on the best of '09 list. The single-player was perhaps the most ridiculously intense campaign ever (mostly in part to the insanely tight pacing; no moment felt wasted, even if it was short) and the brutal Spec-Ops content was icing on the cake. I haven't even touched multiplayer for fear of losing myself for months.
Sucker Punch should get a lot of credit for launching one of the most intriguing new IPs this year. It's probably one of the most under appreciated games to be released on Sony's console.
