@rexington: At least with that song, you can try to use it to hype your self up for a workout/tailgate party rager. Butterfly Kisses is an objectively wretched piece of music.
I abhor this new format. Disinteresting and underwhelming.
Taking out the negative categories feels the same as when schools started giving every kid a participation trophy in junior athletics. Blergh.
Seriously, man. I used to look forward to going to work the week that GotY podcasts came out because I could listen to them all week. Now, I'll just go back and listen to 2017's and 2016's again instead. Also, this new format makes the first three days just feel unnecessary. Giant Bomb talks about games every week already. We don't need those first three days because we already have heard you talk about all these games.
I know you guys are trying to go for a more positive vibe and stuff, but I really, really miss the older style of GotY podcasts from 2017 and prior. The hottest mess, please stop (check yourself before you wriggity wreck yourself award for things that need to take a break before they become the worst trend), worst game, biggest disappointment, etc were all categories that were super funny because they were some of the few categories that people actually agreed on. The group consensus often ended up being the brightest spots in the entire deliberations.
Man, this category really feels like someone came up with the category because they already had three games they wanted to win it, and then they got frustrated that everyone else had different ideas about it. I really think Jeff should've just taken the reins here, paused the recording, and made someone put their definition on a whiteboard off to the side. All the other categories this year were great, but this one was understandably missing from subsequent years.
Jeff has the firm hand when Brad needs it. Brad tends to waver a bit when things get tense, but Jeff remains cold, calculating, and murderous at all times. Always snap the necks, Brad.
