FPS or not, this could be awesome if you get to upgrade your dudes and equip them etc before heading out onto a mission to make more money to buy cool stuff. And then shoot miniguns, set people on fire and ride in a car around the city. Pretty sure all of that would still work from first person.

Im a long time System Shock 2 veteran, and for many reasons hadnt played Bioshock until recently, and I loved it.
The lack of inventory wasnt really an issue, the story wasnt amazing (Andrew Ryan isnt particularly original, but Atlas is fascinating) and the combat is probably better than SS2, and pretty enjoyable in general. Dont bother with most of the weapons most of the time, but use the wrench, crossbow, grenade launcher and chemical thrower and you are sorted.
 Graphics are garish but the water looks cool.
 
Basically the gameplay is still really fun and varied, no idea how this game got a reputation for having 'bad gameplay'

Absolutely tiny little beta, keenly awaiting this though.
