It's late, why is it late? Cause Day 4 is boring. Very boring. I can understand that you might get exited for Darksiders or Dead Rising 2. But for me it's just a very boring day sales wise. In fact as I'm writing this there are just 2 hours left of todays sale. It's also the time that Christmas Eve starts, at least for me. So instead of giving my opinion on the games of today, all of which are probably fine if your interested in them, I'll suggest the best Christmas games. The other reason is that I'm not going to blog during Christmas, I just don't have the time or the interest.
What are the best Christmas games? Well surely they must be the ones you play together. Not all of use have perhaps people next to us to play with so I'll venture in to online multiplayer as well.
Mario Kart Any version will do really, fun and mischief guaranteed!
Any kind of party game, as long as the rules are clear and the concept simple. Nothing more fun than robbing your friends and family of their stars, gold, credits, houses etc!
Minecraft, WoW, EVE Online, MMO x. Alone for the holidays? Your spouse a million kilometers away? Boot up one of these games and build a giant christmas tree in Minecraft, sit near Santa and tell each others stories in WoW, go enjoy the stars in EVE Online, any MMO will do really, most fun is of course when you can have some kind of campfire (or sun) to sit around and tell each other stories. Give away some Ep1c l00t while your at it.

Day 3. Fuck day 3. So if you read my day 1 entry you've seen I bought bully. Wasn't this a daily deal? Did I really make that mistake day 1? UGH.
So I already own Just Cause 2, Tales of Monkey Island and Recettear. Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare are too expensive. I can get them cheaper at the store down town. Spore? A game ruined by EA. Yes EA because I don't believe Will Wright thinks we're all idiots. If trains are your thing I guess Railworks 2 is appealing?
See you guys tomorrow. I'm going to play some expensive Bully.
After the big start, today seems a step back. I own most of the games on sale today and others I'm not interested in.
Day 2
If you don't own them already, Bioshock 2 and The Witcher are recommendable. Of course only if your interested in their respective genres. A small warning on The Witcher: It's basically linear, though your choices do influence the game. It's also a game where you don't have to worry about weapon and armor upgrades as they can be counted on one hand.
Gothic is a series I took a look at, its premise interests me but taking a better look there seem better games out there, especially in the cases of Gothic 3 & 4. But Gothic 1 & 2 do seem good. Gothic 2 seems like an improvement over 1 so that is where my choice lies.

Defense Grid: The Awakening
A good looking defense game with Steam achievements with good reviews for just 1,80€? SOLD
With each successful solved puzzle the girl removes one item of clothing. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords Seems like a very enjoyable puzzle game with a story added for taste. For just 1,50€ this is another easy choice.
I will never finish this game. Gothic II: Gold Edition My choice for getting just Gothic 2 and not the whole package I already explained. The money I saved I hopefully can spend on Dragon Age Ultimate Edition at 50% off. Please Steam? *Puppy Eyes* . Oh and I still need to finish Morrowind, Oblivion and Demon Soul's... So another huge RPG seems like a good investment, no?
Day 2 was a small day, we will see what tomorrow brings. If only I can remember that my salary is supposed to last the whole of January...

Everyone's most dreaded time of the year has come, Steam Christmas sales. As if the holiday's aren't expensive enough Steam comes along with deals that are bascially too hard to resist. With packs that save literally hundreds of <<your local currency>>.
Since I already know I'll spend way too much money on this every day, I'll combine pleasure with pleasure and write about it. Expect games, stupid decisions and math.
Day 1
So much stuff! I want it all. That game, and that pack, and oh that game and wow that pack saves me 400€s! BUY BUY BUY! Ok calm down, let's take a good look at it. There are 12 game deals that expire today. The packs and Publisher Catalogs only expire Jan. 2. So that means that I can see if any of the games from the packs get reduced even more because I don't want all games from each pack.
First the games of today I'm buying:
Masochistic fun!Super Meat Boy You hate it, you love it. I love it, the brutally hard levels and the quest to find the perfect route through each level can keep me busy for hours until my hands can't take no more. Because having it on a single console isn't enough.

Paradox. A name never better suited for a developer. Some of these games I don't know others I think I like and again others are downright bad. Since I only own Lead and Gold, and somehow these games have a certain attraction to me I'll end up buying this entire pack.
1C Complete Pack
Who? I have never heard of them. King's Bounty and Star Wolves look interesting and wasn't there some crazy quicklook for Cryostasis? Maybe someone can tell me if the other games are any good.
Mumbo Jumbo Complete Pack
Isn't that a Banjo-Kazooie character? Anyway seems like a lot of casual puzzle games for 29,99€. I'm guessing most of these are pretty bad but I might get stupid and get it anyway.
Meridian4 Complete Pack
What happened to the other 3? These games seem totally mediocre and.. What's this Space Trader: Merchant Marine? With Steam Achievements? Tank Universal also with Steam Achievements. 34,99€ is a bit too much just to play mediocre games for a bunch of achievements but this Space Trader game looks interesting and it got some good reviews. For 2,24€ there is no reason not to get it. Oh I almost didn't see Grotesque Tactics; "Scantily dressed maidens to be freed from the grasp of merciless monsters." Hmmmmmmm.
South Peak games Publisher Pack
Another mediocre pack. There is Velvet Assassin, which I know is bad but I just like the idea a lot. It's not on sale and 4,99. If it pops up at under 3€ I'll pick it up.
Publisher Catalogs
A LOT of games. From Plants VS Zombies to Dragon Age Ultimate Edition, from Dead Space to Empire Total War, from Far Cry 2 to Star Wars, there is a lot there. Especially Ubisoft has a lot going for it. Expecting and hoping some of these games will get reduced some more.
That's day 1. I'm thinking of tracking how much I spend.. On the other hand do I really want to know?

So I have a backlog, a gigantic, enormous huge backlog. It's crazy big. With new games coming out almost every week it ain't getting much smaller soon. With Giantbombs list feature and the Backloggery. I will soon have a complete ever growing list of games I still need to finish. By finish I mean complete the singleplayer campaign. I'm not after 100% or S-Ranks here, though they still will be part of my daily gaming life.
So owning a 360 was something that was planned in the future, I have enough pc/ps3/wii games that I still need to play that getting a 360 was not a priority. That changed when a (Dutch) online gaming store offered the limited 360 FFXIII package for €309,99. Nothing special you might think but unlike the standard package it includes the following games: Lego Batman, Pure, Halo 3 ODST and Forza Motorsport 3 and a remote and hdmi cable. Looking at other stores it offers a similar package but with the 120GB elite. So I got a 250GB hdd for the same price as a 120GB elite :-D
So I finally reach the top of Heaven defeat the killer and save Nanako. All was going well until suddenly Nanako dies, that was a big shock! Still I decide to let the killer live, seems like the best option to me. Then Nanako turns around but Teddie dissapears! Then the game jumps to spring next year, the fog is still around, Nanako is still in the hospital, I leave and everybody is just depressed. :-(
Now I saved on the last day of the final exams so I hope I can still turn this around. Time for some guide reading.
Ok picture this it is 23:00 in the real world and it's the 31st of January in the game. Naturally I decide to give it a go and try to beat Nyx.
The first Strega member goes down quickly and the second one follows shortly after. It's now midnight in real life as well. Well that went quite well I thought, I give Nyx a go as well. So I save and go up.
First attack takes away almost a third of his health bar, well this can't be right there has to be a catch and of course there was.
So it is now past 1 AM and Fuuka tells me that this is supposed to be his final form. So I attack -> 150DMG -> *blink* Did the healthbar move at all? So a long battle of attrition starts. I manage to keep alive and get his health bar to well almost nothing. This is where he starts to use Night Queen, the attack hits my fully prepared party who just received a Soma to prevent any mishappenings at the last moment. Ah ok so some members are fearful and ow is Yukari charmed? Yes Yukiko is charmed. Yukiko decides, in her charmed brain, that it is a good idea to cast Diarahan on Nyx... Ah so he has 6000 health, well that's nice. Not wanting to let the game beat me I go on as nothing has happened.
After a (long) while I'm back at the Night Queen point. It was now 3:15AM and Yukari was charmed.
I decided that Nyx could destroy the world and I went to bed. Maybe I should have killed Ryoji when I had the chance.
