I'm actually on the other side of the fence here: I'd rather a simple re-release without changes. As one of the four people with a copy of the original on my bookshelf, I'd been really looking forward to revisiting it on PC but seeing that they're making significant changes has dulled my excitement.

The craziest part of this had to be seeing Adam Sessler included in the weird "influencers react" sizzle reel at the end of the presentation.

Super Crate Box and Ridiculous Fishing are still my high-water marks for non-CCG mobile games and Nuclear Throne is easily my favorite twin-stick shooter ever made. They're leaving an incredibly consistent legacy here.

Very true and I've lugged my tower out to our current living room before just to try it out. Works fine for myself alone but then I imagine trying to teach little kids to use a mouse and keyboard, to use Windows, to find games across various launchers and emulators, and to do it all without breaking things in the million ways that a single misclick on a PC can.

I was able to jam Qix into a Gameboy long before I could find Solitaire on the family PC, you know?

Man, I've been house shopping and thinking about going back to consoles from PC so that I can set up a home theater someday and go back to enjoying games from the comfort of a couch. But generational cut-offs like this will probably keep me sitting at my desk with a PC forever...

The consoles are all running standard x86 by this point, right? So we can generally assume that losing access to games between console generations is a choice rather than a technical restriction?

They lost my sale with the design, unfortunately. If they'd modeled it after the GBA SP, so that I could throw it into a backpack without worrying about the screen getting scratched, I'd have been waiting in line today.

Agreed, I give zero fucks about remakes and would much rather see older games simply made available. Luckily, anyone willing to deal with PC's has emulation!

I'm very tempted to back this and if I do it will be only my second time after backing the Hex TCG the better part of a decade ago which turned into a complete shitshow. Going to hold off right now though in the hopes that they show more than this combined 20sec of gameplay. That boss fight clip looks suspiciously good.

I'm not trying to bully anyone and I've always valued the frank discussions here but this dude's consistently aggressive/confrontational posts are getting uncomfortable.
