  • I don't listen to much Killers but I'm down with the Arctic Monkeys. I just picked up Franz Ferdinand's new album Tonight. Now there is some real dance music we can all get behind.

I have a passionate love for GOOD music. I become and elitist asshole critic any time music is brought up in a conversation. I feel so strongly about music that I am willing to settle an argument about music with an old fashioned western gun fight. The way I look at it is there are two kinds of people in this world; those who like The Beatles and those who like The Monkees. Should you pick the latter I would like you to go ahead and find a way to remove yourself from my friends list so I don't have to do it myself.

I am getting a little off topic here. O.k. so I have this passionate love for music and I love hearing what critics such as Stephen Thomas Erlewhine think about music I love. I realized the other day that I like movies a lot too but I don't put too much thought into what critics think about movies. This lack of thought came into play last night when my friend and I were deciding which movie to rent off of Time Warner On Demand. We had narrowed it down to 3 movies; Dirty Harry, Blazing Saddles and Dog Day Afternoon. We had never seen these movies all the way through but we knew they were classics.

So, now on to how to settle this. Well we decided to check what the reviewers had to say. We looked on allmovie.com and noticed that all three movies recieved 5 stars, no help their. So, we decided to check rogerebert.com. He is the man to turn to. Mr. Ebert gave Dirty Harry 3/4, he gave Dog Day 3 1/2 /4 and he gave Blazing Saddles 4/4. So, it seemed an obvious choice. We watched Blazing Saddles. FREAKING TERRIBLE. It was not a good movie at all, mainly because every movie that came out after it ripped off everything this movie had to offer. This was a cotastrophie.

I decided later to look at some of Eberts other reviews. He apparently believes the first four Harry Potter movies are better than Dirty Harry; a classic. Now I love these movies and I think they are all 4/4 stars, but I didn't think Roger Ebert would feel the same. IDK, what do you think about that decision? What movie out of those initial three would you have watched? Thanks for reading!

Tonight at midnight Xbox will be releasing the highly anticipated sequel to Geometry Wars Retro Evolved via Xbox Live. I was ridiculously stoked about this game coming out for about the last month or so. I played Geometry Wars Retro Evolved for the first time in like a year. It seemed like for once I could get excited about an arcade game, it was fantastic. Then I talked to Brad.

Having noticed that Brad still hadn't renewed his xbox live gold membership I thought I would PM him and see what the deal was. I knew GWRE2 was coming out and I remembered him being somewhat excited when they talked about it on the Bombcast. I told him he had to get his gold back so he could play the 4 player online co op. Then Brad dropped the BOMB.

Brad-"My gold account ran out last month and I haven't gotten around to renewing it yet -- been too busy to play games really. Got a gold card sitting on my desk at home, I'll re-up at some point.

HOWEVER, Geometry Wars 2 sadly features no online co-op whatsoever, so a gold account won't matter much in the enjoyment of that game. :( "

What!!! I couldn't believe it. I was under the impression that when they made a huge deal about four player co op they meant it was going to be over live. Who cares about local co op. I can't find one person to play GWRE2 with let alone 3. I'm still gonna get it tonight I will just have this empty feeling while playing. What do you guys think about the lack of online co op? Are you still gonna get it?

Few things in this world are more gratifying than unlocking a sweet marvelous Xbox 360 achievement. Today while playing Grid I unlocked an achievement and happened to notice that my gamerscore had eclipsed 8,000. This made me think of Jeff's old points reports he used to do. It also made me realize how much I miss them. I have come to the conclusion that this is not normal but I'm ok with that.

Jeff's points reports weren't really just him talking about his latest achievements it was much more than that. As a matter of fact the title "points report" isn't actually a fitting title. It should have been called "An Evening Conversation With Jeff Gerstmann". He would sit down and ramble on for about an hour about games he had played and games that were yet to come out.  It's weird because just typing that I realize how unappealing that sounds. "oh so you listen to a man talk about video games for an hour?" Yes, yes I do. For some odd reason what this CRITIC thinks is very important to me. I've always been one to shun critics because I thought it could alter one's own opinion on a game. I have infact recently learned that this criticism on a game doesn't in fact alter my thoughts on a game in a bad way. In many ways it helps point out the good things in the game as well as some bad things.

I guess all of that is beside the point. The real point was, I started missing the points report. I had read many things where people felt the same way I do. The bombcast nearly makes up for the loss of points. We get a great insite into the minds of four great video game critics. I have just had a revelation. The word critic is unfair. The term critic implies that they give every game a terrible review. It could be very easy for someone to misinterpret the word critic, so I will now refer to them in a more formal manner; "Reviewers". The term critic in my eyes also implies that the person is stuck up and well these guys are quite the opposite.

So to sum this all up; nothing can replace the points report. Just Gerstmann by himself talking for about an hour giving us some insite just can't be beat. I don't know maybe my opinion is the minority but I hope it isn't. Let me know what you think.

I say this in a relieved way not an angry way. As a fan of Gerstmann for a while now I can only thank the sky that this site is up finally.

A Shockingly Unique WWII Shooter. (X360)

An incredible story that compensates for some buggy game play. (X360)
