It's a great rental game.

I just finished it yesterday, and I thought it was pretty enjoyable. Not the best game I've played from 2010, but definitely not the worst. The combat can feel both satisfying and completely unfair at the same time. For example, I found myself many times unable to stop the broadcast from a mech. What it would do is complete the broadcast and go into some unnecessary cutscene of showing the backup mechs coming. That would of been fine if they paused the combat, but it doesn't! They were hitting me while I was forced to watch the scene and was unable to defend myself. 
I also didn't care for being penalized for their poor platforming mechanics during the Pigsy race. But thats just for the Trophy, so I could always retry it if I need to. 
 
I also can't STAND having to make a decision about which path I should take. Many times one is the correct "one-way" path. Meaning you take it and can't return. The other is the extra path that you take to get extra goodies like Tech Orbs, and are able to return to the fork. I also hate being forced through a level through cut-scenes. Let me explore the area before you shovel me through to the next zone! 
 
I'm sure at some point I will return to 100%, but I feel I'm done with the game for the time-being. All my tech orb percentages are at 90+%, so most of them all probably alternate paths I missed like I described before. 
 
Somehow, the game didn't feel like an escort mission to me. Probably because you interact with Trip more than you would a useless character who just needed escorting. She was needed to complete levels, so she was more of a partner to me than just a VIP. She was also a nice piece of Eye-Candy.
 
The game has Fantastic presentation in it's cutscenes, though. Terrific acting and animation. Ninja Theory is privileged to have talent such as Andy Serkis. Although, I hope DMC doesn't run on the Unreal engine. I'm getting sick of seeing texture pop and overall muddy textures in general. 
 
As long as Ninja Theory learns from their mistakes with Combat and Camera angels, DMC should be in safe hands. I look forward to seeing the awesome cutscenes.

So as you may have realised from a previous blog post I am currently playing Enslaved and well I just don't know what to think. As I said on twitter earlier the game seems to boil down to a loooooong escort mission and if there is one thing i hate in games its escort missions. But and this is a big but i love the combat and the platforming. I just don't know whether i love or hate this game or a little of both. I never usually write reviews of games because i feel i am not literate enough to do so but I may just attempt it with Enslaved because it seems like it would be an interesting thing to write up.
