@ragsdr: Mine was one of those guys. True believer. Take no medicines. Chiropractic has cured blindness and deafness...That sort of thing.

Dude nearly scared me off, but he did wonders for my uncle, so I went with it. It’s among the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I’m sure there are bad actors out there, but this guy healed me. He worked on my back for a year, and my quality of life soared through the roof.

Anyhow, I saw one other Chiropractor, a woman he worked with...I saw her once. Eh.

My only real experience is with the guy, but he turned my life around. That said, look around, get referrals. I know folks who have had bad experiences as well.

@hannibal127: It is, but it also worked for me.

My chiropractor believed some nutty things, but my injury was severe, doctors wanted to start exploratory surgery, and my physician wanted me to take codeine, muscle relaxers, and anti-inflammatories for the rest of my life.

Instead of regularly collapsing in pain, and being unable to sit or stand for more than an hour, and being unable to carry a laptop, I got into backpacking and got back into rock clubs. I eventually started lifting heavy weights, dropped 40lbs in fat and put on another 15 in muscle.

I was miserable and honestly considered if my life was worth living. I’m convinced that my chiropractor turned that around.

I won’t vouch for everything he said, but the year that I saw him saved my life.

Days 1-3 are the Death Stranding of Giant Bomb. Endless hours with nothing to say. This is the first time I’ve had to shut off main Giant Bomb podcasts...it’s a bummer.

Here’s hoping days 4 & 5 make up for it!

Nice review. It feels like the staff is ramping up on reviews for the games they feel compelled to write about.

As someone who doesn’t read reviews, this leaves me actually wanting to read these takes. Good stuff!

I’ve heard similar feedback about rampant bugs, and it’s a bummer. Respawn is better than that and the timing and prominence of the bugs does reek of rushing the game out for Christmas, Disney+ hype, the newest bullshit Star Wars movie, etc. Hopefully, Respawn will continue to patch it, though I’m not sure it’s a wise use of money (I hope it is!).

As for the metacritic average complaints, aren’t we past this sort of bullshit? Reviews are subjective, scales are different, aggregators are inherently flawed bellwethers, etc., etc., etc...it’s high-level shorthand that someone so in the weeds as to complain about it to a reviewer really shouldn’t care about.

@rainvillain: @development: I’m not done yet, but I’ve seen enough to have had some giddy fucking moments reading certain collectables.

@knoxt: I skipped the Control talk because I skipped all media on this game. I had no idea what to expect, aside from more Remedy. No main character, no plot, no gameplay, nothing.

Anyhow, it seems odd to struggle with the light switch. I think there’s literally a sign next to the first or second light switch that says “Rule of Three.”

@noblenerf: Yeah, I’d call this more Fire Walk with Me/Twin Peaks Season 3 meets X-Files than 13 Ghosts meets X-Files.

I’m kinda waiting for Remedy to connect the worlds of Alan Wake, Control, and Control in some weird way. It feels like Control might give them the ammo they need to link the worlds in an interesting way. I’d kinda like to see it just for the audacity of a Remedy-verse.

Playing on Xbox One X, it plays just fine and looks great. The only performance issues I have are a couple seconds of stutter coming out of pausing, for some reason. Outside of that, it looks and feels great.

Without bitching too directly about Alex’s handling of the the red door and containment puzzles, the game does set those up in the previous sector, Maintenance. I’d think most players would immediately ID and understand the slight variations on a theme. The game isn’t nearly as difficult or frustrating as the video makes it seem.

Not sure if I already commented in here somewhere, but this is a STELLAR spoilercast! Ryan’s glee in some of these moments is infectious.

@plinko: I’m an old man who was listening during Arrow Pointing Down just to follow Jeff and Ryan.

This show has taken some turns, with the death or Ryan and the expansion into multiple offices, and there have been growing pains.

I think Dan’s introduction in the wake of Ryan’s death was exactly what the show needed. I feel similar about Brad taking over hosting duties (I think it freed Jeff up to be his best).

The addition of Ben is another major evolution that I think was critical for the show. It breathed new life into Jeff on the show. I think Jeff is especially elevated by a guy he can riff off of.

While I wasn’t initially big on Ben, I think that dude is fucking key to the show, these days. His humor is hit and miss, but it’s unique, weird, and something you can use as the foundation of a fun conversation.
