@thephantompear: Legendary orcs don't mean shit though? For all the problems I have with SoW, this isn't one of them. I didn't pay a dime in microtransactions, still came across tons of legendary orcs, and you know what? All but one of them was trash that I just executed. Having a good class with solid abilities is about a million times more important than 1-2 random skills being a bit more powerful, and it is trivially easy to find basic (not even epic) orcs that will trounce 95% of legendaries.
Couldn't possibly agree with this review more. I've had a lot of fun with SoW, but now that I'm towards the end I jut can't find the will to boot it up and see it through, despite being the kind of person who finishes games ~95% of the time. After I'd wrung all the fun out of the nemesis system, doing a bunch of horrendously boring story missions and repetitive siege defenses does not appeal in the slightest.
Despite being around since near the beginning, I've haven't followed Giant Bomb in the past year or so and was gradually losing interest for quite awhile before then. Decided to check in on a whim today, saw this quick look, and wasn't really expecting the magic and charm to be there like it was for the P4 ER.
But you know what? This was fucking excellent. Just as good as it used to be. It's tragic that this is just a one-off rather than a full playthrough.
@aziridine: Principal Wells voices a couple characters in FO4 as well. So do Joyce and William, according to IMDB, but I haven't noticed those two myself. Half the damn cast of LiS is in that game.
Game owns. Austin needs to up his gamma though, jesus. Could hardly see a thing in this video.
As for the whole loot progression/difficulty thing they were talking about, it's pretty simple to start on hard with the default white items. Just gotta be sure to stick to your teammates and be aware of your positioning, which is something Austin and Vinny haven't really gotten the hang of. Hard mode is generally the most efficient difficulty to get loot on most maps, so this works out pretty well.
Nightmare is gonna be rough without a few upgrades though. Like, a white handgun will not OHKO headshot some special rats on nightmare, while a green one will, and that can make a significant difference. A top tier orange handgun can even kill several types of special rats with a single bodyshot.
Cataclysm is quite tough and you need every little advantage you can get, so I wouldn't even consider taking a fresh character into it. Granted, it's not like some World of Warcraft thing where you're doing 10 damage instead of 500,000, but taking ~6 swings to down a basic rat instead of 4 using top-of-the-line equipment is going to make or break you when even the weakest enemies take out 1/5 of your health per hit.
Loving this series, but I really wish they'd do one LiS episode per video solely because this game has some amazing cliffhangers that are perfect to leave off on and ruminate over for a few days.
It's a shame this hasn't been getting more attention because it's the first really good season of anything that Telltale has put out since TWD S1. I don't necessarily like the writing that you typically see in Borderlands, but they really knocked it out of the park here. Contrasts very heavily with their lackluster Game of Thrones episodes.
