Great written post. +1 (Also some of the responses so far aren't bad).
I am excited to see what ideas Jeff has, he was part of a movement into video before video on the internet was a thing, same for podcasts. I don't doubt the talent that's still at GB will do great stuff but obviously I will miss the crew leaving.

If I'm being selfish about the crew and what I want them to do after leaving, its some other podcast or another streaming move like Dan & Abby but I'm assuming these guys are probably looking more towards doing something 180 as they've been in the 'game' for over 10 years and had the success they wanted. If they stayed in the content side - I'd be surprised. But I'd like that.

Like everyone here, I just want them to enjoy whatever they move onto.

Hey guys, firstly I want to pour one out for the leaving GB crew. We've all heard the news but before this post waffles on about anything, I want to say, to the folks who's worked at GB and are leaving, thanks, it's been incredible and I wish you all the best.

I've been listening to GB since the gamespot days. It actually inspired my entire career as a professional (don't laugh) gaming youtuber and I ended up building a YouTube channel with 1M+ subscribers and was able to give people jobs which is just incredible. All of this came from as a young teen, burning downloaded mp4s of xb360 release videos onto a DVD and building a love of showcasing things I loved with like minded people. (Err GB/GS, I used to steal your videos make a showcase dvd and pretend I was some kind of magazine). It just looked like so much fun and it looked like my dream job, and it is even today.

To say GB has had an impact on me would be a huge understatement. The team has been like family, I've laughed, endured and grown along with the team and so much of what the team has collaborated on over the years has been absolutely brilliant. Even once I built my own version of online gaming content (whatever that might be these days) I still could not be without my dose GB family.

I'm gutted to hear of the new changes coming, it's a real shame - I know it might sound silly, but knowing we wont get the same squad back for that GOTY special is honestly really sad to me. I spend all year looking forward to it, even if it's a year where none of my games make the top 10. I really take real personal enjoyment from being part of the GB community and even though I know it might just be a job or someone's job, it kind of hurts so many of them are leaving. I guess all I really want to say is I'm gutted these people wont be in my life anymore (is that weird?), I feel I know them as real people and even though they've never met me, I could probably chat to them like I've worked along side them for all these years.

I will absolutely look forward to meeting new people, I'm sure they'll be great but I do want to say I'll really miss this era and I will always appreciate the work the squad have done to this point regardless of what happens.

Guys it's late for me, sorry if this was written poorly, I'm just tired, and sad lol.

Take care GB crew, I look forward to seeing what happens next!

Olli

Also, Jeff? Congrats on your news about BB2 - that's amazing!

@gundato: I didn't mean every person involved was uneducated. I just assume a lot of these moves were probably done by people who don't often make moves. Yes I'm sure people who jumped in who do this normally or even organised this and probably made money somewhere. I actually don't know and can't research now as the reddit/discords have been removed.

I agree that it sucks people will lose money on this but at the same time, I wouldn't advise anyone to invest money they might need tomorrow. I think 'gambled responsibly' is probably a good term here and I hope so to.

Wanted to jump in here. All this is is proof that people working together (even for a bit of profitable chaos) can beat actually knowledgable individuals.

The stock market wasn't created when social media was made and with everything that's happened over the last couple years, it goes to show how quickly people can mobilise for cause regardless if it's valid or not. Goes to show how social media does provide a voice (and a bit of collective power) when maybe 15-20 years ago, something like this would have been near on impossible.

No one wants the GameStop stock, let's be real here, but they do want justice on a system that doesn't work for them. Collectively, even with small buys, together these people can move the market and make a statement. I don't feel they shouldn't be able to do that.

When you buy a stock, you are making a calculated bet (hopefully), just because people are making bad bets (lets be honest here) it doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to. It's like the big funds were having a party and the 'collective' showed up, spilt beer over the speakers and used their car radios and kicked up the volume. No they weren't invited but you can't argue that it was an open gig anyway.

I feel sorry for that guy who was new, made a calculated short at hit new job and then because of reddit (or whatever) probably lost his job and everything else. It's not your fault, but also, the system needs fixing.

Did you really just suggest that you liked something from a previous Giant Bomb studio setup, during a time when the crew is moving offices and setting up a new studio? WHAT A FUCKING WEIRDO!!!!!!!!!

I know right. lol.

They should have a indoor sandbox encompassing a playground structure complete with swing set, multiple slides, monkey bars, and bubble windows.

Also a trampoline, hammocks, bean bags, an inflatable pool with an inflatable alligator pool float, lots of other inflatable and see-thru furniture, and those boots with the hooks on the bottom so you can hang upside down from the uneven bars.

I'm not sure where the ball pit goes, but there should be a net above it with diving platforms. There should also be a treasure chest, an animatronic bomb, vending machines, and a Dairy Queen.

Now I appreciate the imagination here. More of this please.

Sofa was better but the desk is fine too.

Honestly this should have been the TLDR.

Sofa vibe was cool when it was two people on each end. Three people always seemed cramped.

Desk vibe seems easier to setup with more people.

Yeah actually, you're probably right.

I don't know why they don't do beds only. Seems way more convenient and comfy.

A new meaning to the 'GiantBomb @ Nite' series.

Ok so if you don’t know, GBw is moving floors and getting a new studio (Jeff seemed pretty hyped) and I just wanted to throw an idea for the studio as if its like at all up for discussion. Maybe it’s not, but maybe way in on this if your oddly passionate about this to.

For context, I’ve been around since the time brad was there on that launch stream for the wii (gamespot) and I used to listen to the hotspot on an OG iPod. I love the crew, the community and I wondered if an old timer fan’s opinion might give the guys an insight about what I like about the show, content etc. For me, it’s the sofa. Well kind of.

For me, the appeal of giant bomb is the high production quality, laid back relaxed format and the relatable people that are actually a talented analytical and entertaining journalist. Oh and not forgetting the heaps of people that make GB happen.

For me, the sofa was like the thing. It set the stage (sorry) for the vibe of the show. It’s like, ‘hey, we enjoy video games, but we’re not going to present this in a formal ‘news like’ way nor are we going to act like children and overreact for better watch time on YouTube. For me as an adult, this place, these people, I could just listen to and hang out with all day. So here’s my thing, the sofa gives the come chill and hang out with like minded folks and I miss it.

Don’t get me wrong, the way things are, it’s fine, the shows still great without a sofa, but with it, ahh thats some good GB and chill time. Also (just wanted to say) the way the guys handled the show from home has been great and I want to give a nod in appreciation to all the content.

That’s all I guess. Thanks for reading.

(I wrote this and didn’t end up having a place for it in my post)

I love the sofa setup; it works great for GB. I love the fact they used to drag that poor annoying too small of a sofa all the way to E3. It made the late shows great(better).

TLDR- Jeff, I heard you guys are getting a new studio, please get a sofa again. Please let us virtually sit in the GB living room with you all to hang out and chat about video games.

@ginormous76: haha exactly. Honestly not yet, figured dan shouting in the background would stop that but I'll give it a go, maybe check through the episodes.
