I just recently bought a five month old and he's adorable but he can be a bit trying sometimes.
He went through his cable chewing phase. That's one thing you have to be vigilant about. A kitten will climb behind your entertainment unit and might have a chomp on some cords.
Also, put his litter box either in the laundry or even in the shower recess. Anything to keep the mess contained as he will dig and flick the litter everywhere.
Don't let him outside unsupervised for a few months yet. It sounds fanciful but a kitten that size could easily get picked up by a bird of prey thinking he was a rat, or even a rabbit.
Get him desexed and microchipped as soon as you're able. Keep up his worming and flea treatments as well.
Spend the money and get him top quality hard food, especially for his first year. Also, minimise the amount of soft food you give him. Maybe only a spoonful occasionally as a treat. Cats need the hard food to develop their teeth and it also cleans them.
Cats don't need milk. Fresh water will do.
Good luck.
