A frustrating experience because they designed it to be frustrating 0

I rather like it when metroidvania games tell me where to go, and it is up to me to figure out how to get there. This game does that. But there was one part I got stuck on, and died maybe a half dozen times. What would make this better? More health, and the bigger thing; having enemies drop health when you beat them. Even the side enemies in the world. Super Metroid does this. Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission do this. But, it seems like people don't like that lately. I am not sure why. It makes ...

Why adjust the difficulty slowly when you can just crank it up to 15 0

It feels like they cranked the difficulty up to 15. I only completed the first few missions, and I always lost at least one member of my team. Sometimes two. And I am not running around like rambo trying to blow everything up. I feel like I am severely out gunned in the first few missions, and I just don't have the energy to deal with this many enemies that can cause that much damage from that far away. I might change my review later if I can get further, but I doubt it. I tried turning down the...

Not as good as the origional. 0

The first one was better. I dislike the game taking place mostly outside, and is parts where I can't tell what is where. I think the first game benefited from being inside, in that you could have things look different, as opposed to rocks, which all mostly look the same. You can also kind of see where you can walk. I found this game to sometimes not tell me where I can go. Can't walk on that. This game also suffers from the 'where am I supposed to go' that a machine for pigs suffered from. It i...

Its what Sonic 4 wanted to be 0

Its a sonic clone. Is that a bad thing? No. I rather like sonic. I grew up on sonic. And I very much enjoyed playing this game. I remember some of the bosses were annoying, but I got over them, and I plan to play this game again some day. I did not do the plot mode, so I can't comment on that. But I enjoyed playing it....

Its not bad or anything, just not my jam. 0

I can't completly explain why I don't recommend this game. It just wasn't that fun. I played it for 5.1 hours, accoridng to steam, and I wasn't that fun. It wasn't a bad game, don't get me wrong. But...it is just not good enough for me to just say 'you should play this'. If there was a middle option of 'not bad' I would choose that. I would give this game three stars out of 5....

It seems like a good metroidvania, but apparently I suck at those... 0

I find my self torn. I had to use a walk through for this game, because apparently I am horrible at finding my way around. But, I enjoyed the combat, and the bosses, and the world it built. If you like metroidvania games, play this one. It is rather good. If you don't like those, maybe still play it, because there are walk through. It is is still a fun ride while you are on it. I enjoyed metroid fusion, because it told me where to go. I like the challange of 'how do I get there' vs 'where do I g...

It was rather good, but I did not finish it. 0

It has been a while since I played this game, so I don't remember all of it. But, I do remember liking it, and having to turn the difficulty settings down, and not finishing it, as I became frustrated with it. Then why do I recommend it? Because it builds good atmosphere, and is good fun. But, maybe part way through, take a break. Maybe....

If he says 'what the....' one more time...... 0

Look, don't get me wrong. It is not a bad game. It is far from one of those games that you should avoid. But, I can't universally recommend this game, which is what this review system is for, I guess (on steam). The graphics are still good. I thought the plot was ok. Not bad, but also not amazing. It got a little too....deep for me at the very end for me, but it did wrap it up. As for the open world, it was not exactly open world. More like mario 64 or zelda 64 world world, with its little hubs,...

It was ok (from what I remember in 2017) 0

I stole this review from my steam review I wrote in 2017. But to add, it is an ok game. Not amazing, but ok. If it is on sale, it is worth a look. But, not at full price. It feels like somebody read the wikipedia article for Resident Evil 4, and decided they could do that too. But they never actually played it, and never watched anybody else play it. It is a good looking game, but it is, often, frustrating, and annoying with some of its level design, and world building. One of the nice things ...

An adventure to be had 0

One of the best RPG's I have ever played. It has a great plot, great graphics, and great controls. The monsters are vivid, well drawn, and look amazing (for 16-bit). Its a blast, and the game goes to several planets, so the scenery changes, so its not the same the whole way through. The characters move fast enough (a problem 3 had). The controls work good, the cut scenes (a comic book like style with boxes and such) convey lots of emotion and plot to get the story across. Its a great game that s...

Effort was in short supply 0

I started playing Silent Hill 2 on my PS2 some time ago, and I thought this would be a nice addition. I have not finished SL2 yet, but I like what I have seen so far. But, I cannot say the same for this game. But I shall admit, I did play this game on the PC, and most of my issues with the game stem from the extremely sloppy port that was, I’m going to say, attempted. But, I shall get to that in a bit. First, the game is not that extremely scary. Sure, its spooky, and has lots of fog, and the ...

Its like they treid, but then gave up. 0

As a long time SEGA and Sonic fan, I was joyful when Sonic was coming to my next/current/previous generation system. I only had my Genesis to play sonic on. So, a 3D sonic in 3D seemed like a good idea. But, shortly into playing the game you discover some issues. A big issue is that there are different teams, making you play through the same levels with only slight variations. This is different from Adventure 2 (which I rather liked) where there were moderate to sever changes (which is a good th...
