Ah...now I remember the double rainbow. The first time that popped up randomly out of nowhere in the game my co-op buddies and I had a pretty good laugh at it. Though we are easily amused...
It seems like every time this game comes up with the GB crew someone like Patrick or Alex mumbles something about internet memes and then dismisses the game (as in a recent Bombing AM).
I played a couple of hundred hours and I am hard pressed to think of any cheap comedy memes in the game off the top of my head. I remember most of the comedy writing to be heavily character based and that it improved with each DLC.
So I'm genuinely curious, and maybe I just don't read the right internet sites,...but what memes are they referring to in BL2?

Edit: Comstock's plan was for Elizabeth to take over Columbia and bring judgement on the world below just like you see in the 1984 scene with old Elizabeth. What Comstock didn't understand was that the visions of the future he witnessed due to Lutece's inventions were not set in stone, the Comstock you kill on the airship died believing what he had seen would still come to pass. In a recording Lutece mentions that Comstock had confused probability with prophecy.
