Kick off to where now?

Trying not to get all philosophical on this, my inaugural blog post, but here it goes.

Ever find that you sit down at your gaming console/computer of choice and can't get up the enthusiasm to play anything? That has been happening to me a lot lately. Or if I actually do start playing something, I can't focus on it like I used to. Is it that I've lost my patience? Have the titles I've been playing of late suck that badly?

Don't get me wrong, I still love games and want to play them as much as possible; they are my preferred way to spend my time after all. As of writting this I am jonesing badly for the upcoming Darksiders II. Well I'm confused, I'm sure you are too at this point if you are still reading this. I'll try this again when I'm a little more coherent. But anyway, gimme some feedback if you can help me shed some light or at least a different perspective on my issue.

Peace.

That attitude's more applicable to when I write about games than when I actually play them.

That is pretty common. I have felt the same way for about a year, since I started programming at least. I can't focus on playing almost any games now because when I am sitting down in front of my computer I want to be programming/making games. I don't really mind the change though, just means that I like developing games more than playing them now I guess. Taste just change.

Sometimes. This is less to do with a game being bad and more to do with it being streamlined like fuck. Alot of games these days lack the magic old pc titles had mostly due to console focus.

Thankfully my fav genre, strategy is mostly un-touched. Most of it's current problems have very little to do with consoles. It's suffering from low quility derivative shit though thanks to europe. Specifically "Paradox Interactive" who don't give a shit about the quility of the games they put out. "Relic", "Blizzard" and "The Creative Assembly" still put out quility games thankfully. I suspect Xcom (the strategy game) will get fucked up thanks to console focus though. All footage shown so far has been running on a control pad and it flips between mouse and keyboard and control pad. Not a good sign. In interviews they have used the word "streamlined" several million times.
