I don't understand why Jeff is so down on Enzo. He seems to want the Attitude Era back, but then is down on somebody who tries to throw back to it.
I feel like I explained it pretty well, but OK. I want these gimmicks to feel modern and relevant. Shouting all this tired-ass Jersey/Italian stuff that started falling into modern pop culture around the time The Sopranos got big makes Enzo seem like an old, washed-up character. Working a little "I'm all the way up" reference into his last promo, when contrasted with the rest of his shtick, makes him seem desperate to find something new/modern that "the kids" will pick up on. That practically turns him into the modern equivalent of Scott Steiner shouting "holler if you hear me." Not a good look. He's almost certainly capable of better.
I realize I posted that while I was still listening to the episode and you made your point well so what I said seems uninformed in retrospect, my apologies.
I think while its an overall negative it could also why he's a popular character. There are plenty of people who are in their late 20's-early 30's (like myself lol) that haven't followed modern pop culture references get the references he makes.
