GiantBombers I Need Your Help!

Hello GiantBombers, I need your honest advice on some technology purchases.

My Xbox 20 gig died almost 6 months ago. Thankfully I've been able to play my PS3 more and have not been totally out of the gaming loop. However I will be moving soon and I need to purchase a new Xbox console as well as a new laptop, had it since 2005 and it's dying out.  I've always been a PC guy but as I work more in the audio/video field I felt as though a MacBook Pro would be an excellent purchase to start diving in deeper...I know, that's what she said...I have the funds to purchase a MacBook Pro but since Dell has been doing a deal where if you purchase a laptop of $699.99 or more you get a free Xbox 360 Slim 4GB system.  I'm thinking, maybe I can kill two birds with one stone, new laptop and free 360. I'll drop another $100 on a 250 GB HD.  Plus I'll save about $500 more than what I would have spent on the Mac. I need to make decision within the next month, or whenever the Dell deal ends, and I want to here what you Bombers think is the best way to move forward. Again, not looking for you to tell me what to do but more of suggestions and anything I may be overlooking.

Thanks in advance!

Just throwing it out there, but you do know the Dell deal with the 360 only applies for students right? It sounds like you are one, but I'm just making sure you know!

As for the suggestion though, I'd say it's not a bad idea. Decent computer, free Xbox, (You'll want to buy the 250 gig hard drive) and you end saving so dough. I vote yes.

Mac's are in my opinion totally worth the price. It simply comes down to if you want to spend the extra cash. But honestly Dell sucks. Go for the MacBook!

I concur but xbox's are so damn cheap nowadays and the holiday season is coming.

Also, take advantage of that deal. My brother was looking for laptop to replace his 6 year old computer and I told him about this deal. He found one he really liked at 699, handed me the new xbox and he took on the old one (from launch) to his house. It is a fantastic deal, get hte 250gb hard drive, I did.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes I am a grad student so I hope that deal counts for me.  I saying "need" it because my brother plays both and that's one key way we will keep in touch besides hanging out offline. Plus most of my games are for Xbox before I got the E47 error and I would really hate to have to purchase them on PS3.

Go for the Xbox. It sounds like a good deal, and you'll get a quality computer as well.

Toss the 360 idea into the garbage, sell the games, and expand your PS3 collection. Done- simple as that.

Yeah, who needs to play games with your friends and family anyway? And that collection of games you have? Worthless! Sit at home alone making LittleBigPlanet levels that nobody you care about is ever going to see- I like the sound of that!

It could be worse- you could be making pointless worlds that'll get deleted soon for the latest CoD map packs in Minecraft on 360.
