Holy marathon! I'm getting a stitch, Batman!

Ther more I see of it, the more I wan't it. I'm of course talking about Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Its weird, the first time I saw it I instantly wen't 'meh'. But now after seeing more about it and hearing more about the voice acting I have gotten more excited about this game then any other coming out this year.

Now I have been a Batman fan for god knows how long. I used to watch the 1966 Tv series every day back when I was a wee little lad. And when Batman TAS started I was hooked faster then a suicidal fish. I love Batman so much that I've watched the movies from the '90s(and '89) about a thousand times.
The new Movies, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight or two of my favorite movies of the 21st century.

Though there are someting that I don't like about Batman. Yeah, your right. The games. After a parade of horrible games about the greatest superhero in the world I've had my hart broaken so many times that theres nothing but a void left.
But now my game and Batman loving heart beats faster and louder then ever. The game looks like it captures the dark and grittyfeel of the new Batman movies that I really enjoy.

I might be setting myself up for the biggest heart break in my life, but life is an endless stream of shit and dissepointment so after 22 years I've gotten used to having my hopes crushed and draged through shit.

Step aside Halo ODST and CoD MW2, theres a new badass in town.

And yes. The title of this post is a quote from the 1966 movie extrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrravanganza.

It will be dead soon enough

Its not a mainstream genre and it will be dead soon enough after the devs notice that its not worth it. SFIV didn't sell as well as many would have hoped and its not something that the majority will keep playing like whit something like GoD4 or Halo 3. Fighting games is a dead genre, the sooner you realyse that the better you'll be for it.

No celebration for me :(

Well, today was the last day of work and the start of a 4 week vecation. But the ass sucking part of all that is that I can't go and take a beer whit the guys.
The reason for that is that I'm on penicilin right now because of an infection that I have by my tailbone(yes, the ass). Read all about it in a previous blog post I made.

Well that really sucks since my work buddy(s) were going to watch the U21 soccer game between Sweden and England at a sports bar and I would have liked to go whit them mostly to see Sweden lose and rub it in their face, since I'm from Finland and ain't a fan of the Swedish soccer team unlike all of my buddys.

So I ended up watching it on TV at home whit a Coke in the hand instead of a beer or something stronger like a Jäger(yumi).

Well I guess I'll go play some Digital Devil Saga instead that I bought yesterday.

My Song of the Week 2

Well here's a new song this time. (Video was found on youtube, it's not mine.)

This is Sunrise Avenue - Birds and Bees. Its from their lates album called Popgasm (2009). Sunrise Avenues debut album was called On The Way to Wonderland where their first big hit Fairytale Gone Bad came from. The album did well in Europe and Fairytale Gone Bad was played on radio alot in 2006. Don't think that Sunrise Avenue ever came to the US though.

Well I really like the beginning of the song since I really havent heard anything like it before, also if it peeks your interrest more, this songs about fucking. Now I don't really listen to PopRock usually but this song kinda stuck on me and have been listening to it for the last week or so, no not constanly.

Feel my discusting pain my brothers!

Shit. Well, where do I start. Last week I went to the doctors for some pain I had in my tailbone(yes where the butt crack starts). So I found out that I had an infaction caused when a hair sack starts growing inward and then explodes and gets infected. Now that might sound like it fells good (jk), it hurt like hell when i was sitting down. So they gave me some penicillin that was supposed to help whit that and they said that it had to be operated on but they didnt have an open spot untill september.

Well long story short, it didn't do shit. It started hurting like a motherfucker on tuesday so I went back to the doctors on wednesday since I couldn't work abymore. There was a big ball of pus right above my asscrack that they decided to cut open so that it would relieve the pressure building on my tailbone that caused the pain. The most painful thing about that was when they injected the local anaesthetic so that they could cut it open.

So finally after two weeks of the worst pain I've ever felt(and ive broaken both bonrs in my forearm and gotten stept on by a guy whit a hockey skete during a game on my wrist) I finally got some releef. It seemd to have gotten a lot better now and hopefully will last untill september when the real operation is. Now the only thing hurting is the cut they made but that should heal up in a week or two.
Thank god for that since next month I'm planing on going on a week long vecation to Finland to visit my relativs and thats a 12h drive[and I'm driving] from where I live here in Sweden.

Well theres my story and I hope you guys who read the whole thing got nice and discusted from that. :)

My song of the Week

Well I though i'd start whit a series where I every week put up a song that I like. Its will not be the hottest tracks right now and there will probebly be songs that youz guyz never heard of.

Lets start of whit this.

Rasmus - Sophia
Rasmus or as they are later know as, The Rasmus are a finnish band that started out in 1994 and released their first album named Peep in 1996(the album included a cover of the Ghostbusters theme). This song is from their 1997 album called Playboys. The Playboys album had more of a funk-rock/ska sound to it unlike their later and IMO much worse albums. Their latest album is called Black Roses and is produced by Desmond Child. Not really my cup of Tea.

It also has a 5mpix camera(not that great but fine enough for me) whit 16:9 video recording(DVD quality), accelerometer whit compass to use whit the AGPS, 3.5"(!!!) touchscreen(nHD) with 16,7million colors, Internet bowser whit Flash support(i can view GB the way its meant to), Music playback, Radio(yeah apple it does excist), WLAN, RSS, Facebook, Twitter and all that.. It also has built in OVI(app store) and Music Store. Its totally sweet. No wonder Nokia owns over 39% of the cellphone world.

It's coming at the end of this month so I still have to hold tight to my N95 that i currently have.

EA's not the bad guy anymore

I don't really get why ppl still hate EA. They have developed great games, published great games and are making really smart bussines moves that don't always benefit them but but the end user.

Dead Space was the best New IP last year and one of the best New IP's since the PS2/Xbox/NGC era. They have also improved many of their excisting franchises like Batllefield, Burnout, Fifa and NHL. They have also taken some chanses like whit Mirrors Edge and making other solid new IPs like Army of Two.

They have also made publishing deals whit several top developers like Grasshoper, ID Sofrware, Valve and MTV Games. Their overall quallity in games have also risen by a significent ammount.

They are letting develpment houses that they bough like DiCE and Bioware/Pandemic continue their work just like they did before EA came into the picture.

Sure, EA has done some things whit DLC and DRM that maby isnt the best way to do it. But, if your bitching about them wanting you to pay for additional content for games then why aren't you bitching about paying for games? They are the ones making the game and they will put as much or as little content in the game as they like and in the end its you who has to decide if the games worth the 60 bucks ot not. And what they are doing whit the DRM is something that has to be done. Whit the problem of piracy being as rampent as it is there has to be some kind of DRM that protects their product form being stolen. Maby the way they did it whit Spore wasn't the best way but its A way. And if your planing on installing a game on more then 5 different computers then i dont know what the hell your up to. As long as tyou uninstalled the game you would get the install back. And if you PC isnt constantly breaking and erasing the game then its not a problem that enyone has to deal whit. Also Steam was a pain in the ass when it first came out and looka ta it now. It can only get better form here.

So if you have any real reasons why you still are so hostile agains EA then let me know. Because i don't really se a legit reason to be pissed of at EA.

Thoughts on why '08-'09 is a harder time then '92

Why didn't the economy have an effect on the game industry back in '92?Her are some points why.

There weren't nearly as many games coming out back then as there is now and badly developed games had an easyer time selling since the games review bussines wasn't as wide spread as it is now and many reviews were controlled to some extent by publishers and console makers.

A dev team was for to most part smaller then 10 ppl and the games had a shorter dev time. That means low cost for game development

Publishers and developers got a bigger proffit from each copy of a game sold because of the smaller budget. The money that would go into a budget game to day exceeds a AAA title back in the days.

companys were smaller back then and could live of the sales of a game for a long time even if it wasn't a major succes.

Several games were "garage games" meaning made by ppl who were not getting payed untill a publisher picked it up so that meant that publishers didn't need to pay for the dev cost, just the publishing rights.

A falled game wasn't the end all for many companys back then, even the smaller ones could make games that didn't sell well and still continue running.

Many companys like say Sega and Midway(and many others) had a steady stream of money coming in from the arcade bussines. Whit Midway releasing MK back in '92 they were in their golden years because of the huge succes of MK and other Midway arcade games.

Whit higher dev costs and personel cost its harder for a fev/publisher to just live of the sales of one game for a long time and that means that after every prodject they have to restructure their work force in a way that would save them money. Now whit the costs higher and the profit margine lower it is a very fragile industry that could crumble or force smaller publishers and developers out of bussines whit one falled game. (like Free Radical)
