@wooderon: not a diss on rorie, but Austin is a WAY better DM. He understands game design and player interaction deeply, due to seemingly at least a decade of running table top games with his friends (seriously, check out his Friends at the Table podcast if you haven't already. Start with the Counter/WEIGHT arc). That probably helps a lot when trying to ease new players into the concept of role play.
lol at the dude talking about how Nier is pretentious while claiming the people who like it have an infantile understanding of philosophy. Gamers lack self awareness example number 253842688449639
Hearing about Abby's dismissal of Nier is disappointing. Yes the costume of 2B has that one cut on the skirt, but the game itself does nothing to be out of the way pervy (that I remember). It is a game with attractive female characters. IMO it is the same thing as modern Lara Croft in a tang top. Overwatch is worse about sexing characters up, but I guess that is OK since it is "western".
Yes I played a ton of OW and I like it quite a bit.
I mean there's a trophy for repeatedly attempting to look up 2B's skirt, and when you self destruct it literally blows her skirt off and she just runs around like that for a while. I love Nier: Automata pretty deeply, but the pervy shit is definitely in the game, and it's way worse than Overwatch because those characters at least keep their damn clothes on. You can disagree that it's a problem, but it's absolutely there. The Lara Croft comparison is a weird one too since people actually do criticise that character design and the the first Tomb Raider reboot got all kinds of shit for over sexualising her.
