I downloaded StepMania a long time ago and forgot to install it. Then forgot I had it. So I decided to go ahead and install it (v 5.0.12, or whatever the latest version on the site was). When I launch, I just get a plain white screen. I can hear sounds if I press enter or escape, etc., but there is nothing on the screen. Full screen, windowed, doesn't matter. I tried messing with compatibility settings, but to no avail. I'm on an older PC (I'm a console gamer, mostly) but I should be able to run this. Anyone have any ideas? I've seen other people complain about this problem, but I haven't found a solution.

I'm on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit; Intel i7-920; 9 GB DDR; Radeon HD 4850 2GB.

Just in case anyone else encounters a similar problem to mine and is searching for a way to fix it, I just had to disable hardware acceleration in Chrome (go to Settings>Advanced>System and toggle Hardware Acceleration, then relaunch the browser.)

I don't know what caused this to suddenly be an issue, but my PC is old and I'm pretty sure my video card has been dying for a long time now. I'm still running a Radeon 4850HD 2GB, which is fine for me since I mostly play games on console. But I've had other issues in the past, like Windows BSD relating to video card stuff and weird video artifacts when watching video files.

tl;dr: Turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome, it's under settings. Worked for me.

Just tried it with Explorer. The screen doesn't smear, but there is no video or audio. I never use Explorer, so maybe something needs to be updated... I dunno. I just realized I didn't post the image of the Chrome issue.

Yeah, I tried incognito. I haven't tried another browser yet. Kinda doing other things at the moment, but I will try that later. Weirdly, I just had a couple of YouTube videos in a row do it, but other YouTube videos were and are playing fine. This is weird... might try reinstalling Chrome tomorrow.

I posted about this in bug reporting until I realized it was not a GB problem, but apparently something wrong on my end. I took the post down there and I'm not sure where to put it. I'm hoping someone on here has some ideas because I can't figure it out and I'm bummed I can't get anything to play.

I'll post an image so you can see what I'm seeing when I try to play a video. I'm using Chrome on Windows 10. I tried disabling extensions. Videos worked fine until yesterday after I rebooted to update Norton. I tried disabling Norton as well, no fix.

For a long time I've set videos to YouTube (rather than HTML5/Progressive) because for some reason 1080p60 videos played smoother like that. I can't recall if this option was not on premium videos before, but it's not now. If I set videos that allow it (Quick Looks) to YouTube, no problem. No problem on YouTube's site, either. If I set to HTML5 or Progressive, I get audio but no video. The scrub bar will "smear" the thumbnail image and the controls will also smear where they animate. If I scroll, smearing occurs. I'm sure there is a better word than smearing, but it's what I've got. You can see in the image I'll post.

Anyway, I'll keep working on it but I'm hoping someone here has an idea. Not sure if it's coincidence that it happened after updating Norton or not. I guess for now I'll just download videos to watch, but that's not a great solution.

*Just a question, was the YouTube option ever available on Premium videos? Because it's not now, for me.

*Okay... Gaiden the Ring has a YouTube option, other premium videos do not. I think that's a premium thing, right? Quick Looks will play if I select YouTube, but Gaiden will not. It does the same thing as if I had it set to HTML5/Progressive.

I'm still pretty early on as of this posting, but I think I'll be interested in doing some co-op pretty soon. If anyone is interested, I'm R3belD0gg_ on PSN (don't forget the underscore).

This is my first Monster Hunter and I'm still learning. Sticking with the charge blade for the time being. I have a mic, but can go either way with chat.
