Really disagree with Jeff about BOTW when he says "to me it feels like a largely empty over world with some occasional combat". I've found the world FULL of little details that feel magical, whether it's lifting up a stone and a frog hopping out, climbing a mountain and finding a sword at the summit, or stumbling across a jaw-dropping vista. It really is one of those games where the moment to moment joy of playing is the reward, not any mechanical boost to an xp counter or stat.
The cooking and inventory management systems are definitely cumbersome, and the framerate is what it is, but set against everything that game does better than just about anything else other there, those are easy problems to look past.
Man I sank a lot of hours into this game at the time and I don't recognise a god damn thing in that trailer apart from the rabbit lady with the arrows and the dude what had a gun. From what I remember the story and characters didn't do it for me at all, but the gameplay was maybe the most fun it's been in the series. Oh and there was some bit at the end where you climb a tower for like 100 floors and it's tedious as shit and that's why I never finished it.
