Consideration of upcoming titles in 2012

Making this list as a reminder that there are some games coming out this year that I will be interested in. Trying to keep that enthusiasm going through possibly another year of working in games QA. These are in the order that I think of them.

List items

  • I'm a huge Tekken fan. And I know, it's a Capcom fighter with Tekken characters. However, Capcom has proven in the past that it knows how to throw together a fun and non seizure-inducing 2v2 fighting game. If it weren't for the new Gem system, it would be a no-brainer, day one purchase.

  • I haven't played much of any of the Hitman games, with the exception of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, which I found to be a challenging and rewarding experience. From what I've seen, this looks pretty badass.

  • A team-based multiplayer shooter set in what's essentially a zombie obstacle course? I'm down to give that a try. Especially since the modern console generation allows for better means by which to communicate with your team. I'm looking at you, Resident Evil: Outbreak.

  • 1999 Mode. Also, several years of development on what is starting to look like a strong new entry into the "-Shock" series, instead of just revisiting the setting of a formerly awesome story... but then again, I never played Minerva's Den, so who am I to judge?

  • I've got a bad feeling that this will wind up being a long series of stealth kills and pointing an empty gun at hostile AI that is easily bluffed. But that's only because it was being pushed, then it dropped off the face of the earth, only to come back again. It's also being released as a downloadable title after about 4 years of development across two studios, so... yeah.

  • Jetpacks and Space Guns. I'm a sucker for jetpacks and spaceguns. Especially when they're free.

  • An Indie heist game. What's not to love?
