It's not the bugs, it's not freezes, it's the story.  For all the choices that you get, it seems like there's really only one way to go if you want to save the Brotherhood, and to do that you have to do some pretty awful things.    I've put so many damn hours into this game, and it feels like a waste to stop, but I can't do anything that fits with the type of character I'm playing.  Which is strange for a game that gives you so many damn choices.  Maybe I'll start over another time as an evil legion dude so I won't feel bad about this.

I saved the Brotherhood and don't remember having to do anything awful, unless you consider helping the NCR awful.

You can actually save the Bro-hood, you just have to not replace the current Elder with that other guy. Then you can go down the NCR path, and convince the Bro-hood to help out the NCR. 
 
However, I didn't figure that out until it was too late. 
 
Also, if you're feeling sorry for Bro-hood, then you're probably basing your opinion on the Bro-hood from Fallout 3. But they're really the only Bro-hood guys in the Fallout series that aren't isolationist jerks.  
 
Trust me, it's not that bad. There are better factions to help out (ie, the NCR). 

I found that, for the most part, if you side with the NCR or become independent you can negotiate with most factions, despite what the generals want you to do. It's all about trying to talk your way around these situations. House and Legion on the other hand...

The brotherhood kidnapped me and stole all my shit, so when it came time to decide their fate I wiped them the fuck out!

I kinda want to finish the game, but that's just the completionist in me speaking.  I got fed up with the game after a bug corrupted my save.

See I don't want to side with NCR because I don't want to kill House either.    I just want to kill the Legion.

Awesome, I didn't know I had the power to force you to read.  I am feeling kind of powerful.  You're going to feel awful though when I start posting my 10 page papers on here.

Ugh, and I chose to fight with the NCR and ran into a glitch that won't let me do that either.  Fuck this game.

The end of New Vegas isn't anything special.

If you go House, he requires you to destroy the Brotherhood. If you do the Yes Man path, you can spare the Brotherhood and scare off the NCR, but you have to kill House. Don't know if that's a dealbreaker for you.

Eh, I sucked it up and killed house and decided to go with the NCR, but now that path is glitched too, so the only way I can end the game is with Yes Man or go back to my saves like 10 hours in the past.  I think I'll probably just move on to Mass Effect.
