It's great to hear stories like this introducing a different generation to video games. I applaud you for having the patience and understanding to stay by her side as she figures out some pretty abstract concepts and not just giving up.
I want to be excited about FE x SMT but I can't see how it could work. Both series are great by themselves, but can't see a new game drawing the strengths of both. Happy to be proven wrong.
Always keen for more Zelda though, so at least they still got that going for them.
Really cool ideas, bringing the physical realm back into games - in an era of screens and virtual reality. Reminds me of keep talking and nobody explodes - with the physical manual and everything.
While I'm not in the industry and am definitely against the ridiculous hours these guys are pulling, is banning these people going to do anything to help?
From the surveys, most think that it is currently a feature of the industry - probably due to funding/time pressures or otherwise. If I were a leader in this position it would be impossible for me to make the pledges described (no crunch, ever) in good faith, and if my team understood that there would be times to crunch and times off, then I don't see the issue with that.
For sure, the leadership rhetoric needs to be strong, but at the same time we need the industry to move as a whole so that great studios don't become uncompetitive because their neighbour is driving their workers to the ground. For that, everyone needs to be on board, and there's no better way to do that than having everyone participate in the discussion, rather than casting them out.
