I don't even know what Outer Wilds is. Nobody I know played it or talked about it. Is it even on consoles? I guess it's an indie exploration game or something?
Then there is Control. A game with a super interesting setting, quirky characters and a supernatural theme. Yet somehow they shoehorned it into a third person shooter where demons shoot rocket launchers at you and they give you magic guns or something. What's even weirder is that they give you some interesting telekinetic abilities, yet still they have you and the enemies ordinary guns. Totally destroyed the immersion for me and I gave up after about 3h because it was just so repetitive and boring.
In third is a free to play Fortnite-like. Really? How is that even in the runnings against games that actually attempt some serious world building and story telling.
I used to enjoy the end of the year discussions. These days I just skip forward to the results. I guess in the end these lists don't mean anything anyway and it's just mindless entertainment. And that's how I feel about GiantBomb in general these days. Now there's YouTube channels that provide better coverage and discussion of video games. Oh well...
So now they're playing the exact some coop games the original cast played years ago... Why even have this subscriber show anymore? I've been subscribed for almost 10 years now and not only isn't there anyone from the original cast in this video (except Rorie I guess), but they also rehash the games those guys used to play back then.... I really should cancel my subscription I guess, I haven't enjoyed anything they put out lately. Generation Z or whatever it is called is probably more important to business, so let's just put Ben, Dave and Jan on screen because they are popular with the kids..... I don't expect any like-minded people in this comment section as those that would agree with me have probably moved on quite a while ago. So please white knights, spare me with how great GB still is... This is just venting, very unlikely that anyone at GB even cares....
No need to be upset about the result. I stopped listening to the discussions years ago. I come here for the entertainment and look elsewhere for actual critique. I mean, come on, Jeff put Call'o'Dudy on No. 1 for his list this year. What else do you have to say? Their "game of the year" doesn't surprise me. It's like when you and your buddies discuss the best movie or something. The result will likely be something stupid. If you want professional opinions, you need to go somewhere else. Having said that, I wish they wouldn't throw a small, tiny indie tetris game in with multi-million budget games, but oh well, just don't take it seriously.

UPF has become so boring. Been skipping through it each time for what feels like the last few months. The format doesn't work without the weird/different stuff Drew/Vinny brought to the table. I'd prefer more worthwhile content like Demo Derby/Game Tapes/Murder Island. As it stands GBeast is the king of premium content.
This is in no way a 5 star game. The one thing that is truly outstanding are the visuals and that's it. The gameplay is so trivial and boring. There's a really basic stealth system that is just boring. Just hide, call the enemies over one by one and stealth kill them. The alternative is chipping away at their health while constantly dodging. I'm 6 hours in and I don't feel like I want to keep playing. FarCry was so much better at what they are trying to do. A prime candidate for most disappointing game of 2017.
I hate the call-in stuff. It has always been the worst stuff about radio shows as well. It's cringey and/or annoying to listen to. If you ever had a single job that involves phone support you can probably relate. It really, really sucks that this takes away the only regular premium stream, if not the only stream at all. I hate to say it but I might end my Subscription after 6 years. Please make this morning show bullshit a separate or free thing and don't "reward" premium subscribers like that.
Looks kinda cool, I'll go check it out on Steam.... wait a minute....this is PS4 exclusive? Like exclusive exclusive. This is like the definition of an indie game. How is that exclusive to consoles? That's really shitty, totally would have purchased that game. They could've totally topped the Steam Top Sellers by now. What a poor business decision.
