Honestly I don't really get the point of just playing the opening 3/4 hours of a (I presume) 40+ hour RPG. I wish they'd just downloaded cheat engine and made themselves invincible and given themselves 500% exp gain or something so they can get through the combat quickly.
As someone who hasn't played kingdom hearts I don't really know why I'd bother watching the rest of the series if they're gonna do this, just seems kind of pointless, at least for me personally. I'm sure it works for people who've already played these games and get to just relive some memories.
I know committing to playing these long RPGs is a serious time sink, I know they're busy with a lot of other, more important stuff and I know that the current pace of a 1 and a half-ish hour episode a week it would have taken them years to finish all the games so I can totally understand why they don't want to do it but still, its a real shame for me.
Gonna add to the chorus that this is my new favourite video series and I hope you continue it. Its wild seeing Kingdom Hearts after hearing about it for so long. Donald Duck has a zipper on his hat! Very cool.
Thanks to the duders who responded to my questions re the writing. Wasn't trying to dunk on the game or anything but I've just heard so much hagiography about this game and its sequel. The initial dialogue wasn't grabbing me so I was curious if it moved beyond that initial clunky exposition. Seems it does so I'll look forward to that.
Never played this game but I always heard that it was really well written, as in significantly better than modern RPG writing. Maybe it's just the start but so far it seems stiff as hell and very videogamey. Like ships exploding and generic soldier man is here to say "ah yes, I see you are *audible recording take change* a scoundrel, let me explain what a scoundrel is for 30 seconds, now why not use your hacking skill on this door"
Does the writing get better or is it just a case of grey-beards exaggerating how good the writing is.
Does anybody else think the overlay takes up too much space making the gameplay window a bit small? I had to get up and watch from my desk instead of the sofa because I couldn't read the subtitles.
Also, pretty excited about this, Asura's Wrath owns.
