Concerning breakup games, Cibele pretty explicitly deals with a failed relationship.

Pro tip: the opening room and the adjacent room (the one that's connected by the open door) are always safe.

So to anyone who's played this: how's Philadelphia? An interview in Philly mag said there are some missions that take place in City Hall and Independence Hall, but the layout of the city itself is far from accurate. Probably won't play this, but it's always nice when my hometown pops up in pop culture.

@subscryber said:

One thing it borrowed from Fez was an absolutely incomprehensible map.

Fez's map was super confusing for me as well, until I realized that it's actually laid out in a logical and predictable manner. I don't know if I can describe it super clearly, but basically, the whole conceit of Fez is that you can rotate the world, right? So that means each area has four different "planes" that you can access, like if you imagine a cube spinning on its vertical axis, it has four horizontal sides. Take a look at this portion of the map:

No Caption Provided

See how all five of those smaller rooms emanate from the same branch of the larger area? That means that all five of those rooms have doors that are located on the same "side" or "plane" or whatever of that larger area. The direction those lines emanate correspond to which side of that area the doors are located in. If that makes sense.

I've been (belatedly) playing through Fez recently, which is why I'm so excited to share this with you. It kinda blew my mind when I first realized it. As for HLD, Disasterpeace + gorgeous pixel art + weird glyphs = definitely getting this at some point.

Ah, a flashback to the early days of GBEAST (as in, like, last year), when it was just Vinny and Alex playing Steam games and trying to remember what that Korn album was.

The unofficial favorite Infinite Jest chapter/segment/whatever thread:

The long list of things you learn when you first check into a rehab, like how "(both as a relief and kind of an odd let-down) black penises tend to be the same general size as white penises, on the whole."

Poor Tony Krause withdrawing from drugs in the bathroom stall of a library.

And of course, Don Gately's climactic fight scene.
