I'm not championing anything for winning, but their arguments are all over the place here. Also feels like a category where only Triple A budgets can compete if they only qualify games that can provide full interactivity and story telling.
@vinny Dan abuses vertical attacks, especially with Mitsurugi. His k~b, when he rolls at you, and 4B, the one where he sways back and stabs you, have terrible tracking, so just be patient and side step him. This will take practice. But, I'm going to echo a lot of the same strats people are making. Dan's strength is that he makes obnoxious comments to get in his opponents head and abuses safe vertical attacks. You can get around this through side stepping, and with quick, safe horizontal attacks. Also start using side step moves, these moves are performed by double tapping a direction plus an attack. 22(down down) or 88 (up up), is common annotation.
Sieg and Nightmare's 6A (Forward + Horizontal attack) is extremely fast and can ring out, but is duckable. Nightmare's 66B (Forward, Forward + Vertical) has side stepping properties and is safe on block. But Dan can side step it, if you get predictable. Astaroth, 22B( Down, Down + Vertical), is very effective against Dan's style of play. Huge range, has tracking, enormous damage, and ring outs. Kilik can get around it fairly easily though.
