I don't know what everyone's complaining about. You know what Dan is, you knew he was involved. Your anger is your own fault. Anyway, I played through Portent just the other week. On classic I lost two soldiers. I think they already had lasers...?

Also: Vinny, cover exists.

Vinny. Cover exists.

Vinny. Vinny, hear me now. Cover exists.

There has never been a good Sonic game. People are just sick.

I imagine 2K would love it if Firaxis' games could somehow sell as well in the console marketplace as they do in the PC marketplace, and Enemy Unknown's entire momentum seemed to be based around 2K wanting them to take a very console-friendly approach with the UI and controls.

Then I have to assume the outcome was that nobody bought Enemy Unknown on either console and a crazy amount of its copies were sold on PC, both at launch and gradually through Steam sales. It seems like the only way to explain how XCOM 2 didn't even bother doing a simultaneous PC and console launch. The console copies of the game must be a complete afterthought from a business perspective.

From what I heard XCOM sold very poorly on consoles.

https://www.engadget.com/2012/11/08/npd-dishonored-sold-460k-in-october-xcom-hit-114k/

From the numbers in this IGN piece, we can estimate 2.6 + million in PC sales.

As well, the game did come to consoles eventually. If you aren't going to sell more than a million copies or so, why rush? The focus on PC I think it did help them, given all they were trying to do. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was a leaner team either.

Keyboard and mouse is absolutely fine so long as you actually use the keyboard. They haven't even used the tab key yet, let alone number keys.

For all this talk about which commander would most endanger the cause, it seems like Vinny might be the weak link? He just "lied" to Alex all episode...

@ethanielrain: My best heavy is in for a (just one!) meld upgrade, and though I have a full kit of laser weaponry, a few plasma pistols, and carapace armour, I was rotating them onto my away teams. So the rest of my kids run in to help defend the base and might as well be unarmed.

It doesn't seem like they will self equip any spare gear I have (like the exalt lasers) so I'm a little stumped. I could, I suppose, roll back to the start of the previous mission but, y'know.

Vinny's production values are best in class. Perfecto.

Though in the wait after episode 1, I may have started replaying EW myself. Classic, non-ironman. That base defence mission was... somewhat harder than I remembered. And by harder I mean everyone died.

Three mechtoids spawn on their first turn, and there's me with no MECs of my own. I don't know how to deal with them via conventional combat rifles.

Just two things:

- That absolutely the other commanders should be kept in the dark about any deaths, and have them find out by visiting the memorial at the start of their episode.

- And that if they're not going to use a controller, they should at least try to use the keyboard. Watching both Vinny and Abby slowly click on all the on screen confirmations is like watching Alex click Move to move in Civ.

I really hope they get to the exploding shark level. Also, for circumstances to end with Abby as a Punch-MEC.

Oh.

And that tutorial, huh? I would have only played with it the once, but it is both too handholdey and seemingly a poor teacher.

Yes. Alright. Yes.

I never messed with Long War but I did make it through Enemy Unknown and Within about six times total, so I'm happy to say I like it. Maybe this will inspire me to play Xcom 2?

..."Is there an Australian" she asks, as they cycle past English. Well. I suppose Margaret was a little hard to understand.

The only FF games I've played are, in order I guess, Tactics Advance (the snowball one), Crisis Core, XIII, some of Type-0 (I always wanted it for PSP but it never released outside of Japan. I bought it for cheap when it came to PS4 but then Bloodborne came out and it's been on the shelf since) and XIV. Also Lost Odyssey and Bravely Default if their JRPGness is more specifically Final Fantasy like.

I suppose I don't really have a proper comment. I am interested in this one though.
