After closing the books on another team meeting at work this morning, I thought I'd jump over to GB to check out the morning news or maybe catch up on some endurance runs. But what in the world did I see, Bungie jumped over to Koticks backyard and signed a 10 year publishing deal with Activision. Now I know that Microsoft has the rights to the Halo franchise and anything new that Bungie comes up with would be their own IP, but WOW.....ACTIVISION?!?!?!?!?!
Bungie's statement this morning to continue their plans to "rule the world" is comforting, but my stomach has still yet to rise up from seeing the initial headlines. With all of the controversies, the read between the lines shots back and forth about Brutal Legend, and the ever so changing and very topical Activision/Infinity Ward beef, why would Bungie want to be associated with this company?
Now I'm not going to say I know anything about the specifics of their deal, but a saying starts to reverberate in my head that a lot of parents tell their children......"Your guilty by association!"
