Austin stans knew it was only a matter of time before he brought up Foucault in one of these things. Next week: bell hooks.

In all seriousness though, that's real shitty to hear, and I hope things improve for them.

Does anyone know if the restored content mod people have done anything to fix/make skippable that near-impossible combat section towards the end of the game - the HK factory, I think? I played through the game with the mod installed once and just reached that point and literally could not progress any further. It's a real bummer and something people don't talk about enough with the mod, but if there's a fix for that I'd love to replay the game now. As Austin says, it's definitely the most interesting interpretation/deconstruction of the Star Wars mythos I've seen.

I've always felt this way about the Arkham games - and a lot of other games that deal with cities. It feels like they've created the perfect environment to tell a story about a teeming, lively city, and then shoved a post-apocalyptic sense of emptiness into it that feels more suited to environments out of Fallout or The Last of Us. Hell, even those games feel a lot more alive. Where there should be a story about dealing with people, there's just a big arena in which to beat them up.

Great piece as always, Austin.

I agree about the Rands, there were some fantastic moments with them - Paul's 'You mean "whom", not "who"', and Ryan's raging outburst near the end where he spills his drink everywhere. I was super charmed by this game once it became clear it was totally aware of its own silliness.

I just finished the game, enjoyed it a great deal! It's just the right level of campy to be intriguing while also being downright hilarious at times. I hope the sequel gets made, and if it does I hope you continue to play into the silliness. I think we'd lose a lot from being expected to take this thing fully seriously. (That said, I did find the story quite gripping, in an aware-of-its-own-implausibility kind of way!)
