What say you Giantbomb gang? (Help needed)

I've decided that psychology is simply a bridge too far in certain aspects, so I will be changing my focus to media studies, to be exact; Journalism .

But I first want to know one thing, should I go for it? I need the support of everyone here, including you, yes you. I usually don't take chances in my life so this is foreign territory for me. Should I, Snipzor Delarosa (Not real name), enter the field of journalism after being torn to pieces by psychology? Change my discipline after 2 years of abject failure? I need your help here.

To help you concentrate, think over this wonderful piece of music.

Please, I need your help here.

This track is in GTA4 and its tearing me up right now.

Psychology sounds interesting to someone who has never done it, but the members of giantbomb are hardly in a position to dictate your life. Maybe go and talk to some journalism students and see what they think?

Journalism, despite the bad rap it gets when you talk about television and net journalism, is still a big field, full of opportunities to make a difference.  The field is changing now, but that doesn't make the actual pursuit any less exciting.  You can also use what you learn in a field like that in all kinds of ways, from print to the airwaves to the internet.  It's especially useful when getting practice with interviewing and personal involvement, two big issues I had to deal with back when I was dipping my toe in the water.

And hell, whatever you picked up in psychology might help you have a neat angle on stuff that people who started in journalism won't have, so you'll be likely to automatically be able to put in a different perspective.

Go for it man, you don't need us backing you.  Just believe in yourself.  God knows you like to write about public affairs anyway :)

My wife is a Licensed Professional Counselor, she has a MA in counseling. But get this, when I first met her in '88, she was an Accountant. She became a CPA in '89 and then got a calling to work in human services. Thus, a new life was being made, back to college and then graduate school.

I supported her decision through this change. If you decide to go with your gut, you'll need support. That's my only concern when someone is deciding a life/career change. I would say go for it, set your goals and meet them. Good Luck.
