Pretty happy, considering I don't motion game. Its a fine option for those who want it, and still cheaper than the mircosoft console.

i'm kinda weirded out by this new popularization of PC gaming. to me PC games were real time/turn based-strategy games, CRPGs, flight sims shooters etc. but it seems like the more and more people are playing games on PC's the idea of the PC game is kind of dying. when i hear people talk about the reason to by a PC is inevitably to play games (usually a console game) with considerably better graphics. im not trying to be elitist i just kind of yearn for the good old days when there was a lot of higher budget (for the time) innovative games on PC.

You shouldn't yearn because what you're saying isn't really happening. Those games still exist. That's the beauty of it. If you have an adequate PC you get all these types of games that haven't/don't really work on consoles AND ports of traditional console games themselves (barring first-party exclusives).

As far as the big budget thing, eh I don't know. Will we ever get a PC flight sim with a "triple AAA" budget? I don't know. But that's where stuff like Kickstarter and the "indie game" scene come in to pick up the slack.

Yeah, the versatility is astounding. I love that I can play Bioshock: Infinite and FTL on the same machine. The indie game scene is quite a selling point. And then there are AAA PC exclusives like Sim City and Starcraft II.

I've played PC games since I was 2 (my first PC had an orange monochrome screen), so whether or not it has ruined me is not really something I can judge. I have consoles but they have always been secondary to PC in terms of usage. I use my consoles basically only for exclusives. I probably won't even bother getting one of the next consoles since my PC will likely already be more powerful than them.

Yeah, i'm pretty much in the same boat regarding the exclusives. The only reason I still have the ps3 is for games like Red Dead or Uncharted and Netflix.

I did, in September of last year, and there are a lot of duders here who have done the same. However, it seems like most of them are still A-OK with occasionally firing up the 360 or PS3 to play a console exclusive.

Me? Pretty graphics are nice but I do not at all need them to play a game. Don't get me wrong, I really love playing games on my PC, and I really appreciate the graphics, but what I appreciate more than that is the higher framerate. 1920x1080 is nice as well, but those 60 frames and VSYNC are what I aim for at all times and what I miss most on consoles. Honestly, I don't think that old graphics ruin a game at all.

Thats a great point, about the frame rate, I never noticed when I just played consoles, but going back and playing Red Dead or Dark Souls (omg, blight town), the slow down in frame rate is so much more obvious than it used to be.

And not the graphics necessarily, but the resolution, it hurts to see something in 720p. :-P

I used to be a ps3 fanboy. That once beloved console has been the object of neglect for the last year. Why, you ask? Because I put aside a modest amount of money for a decent gaming rig. About six hundred dollars over all. But man, playing games in true 1920 x 1080p resolution on high settings, i just can't go back to the consoles. They look like shit in comparison. In June, when the Last of Us is released, will be the first time I touch my ps3 in a year. So I ask, Giantbomb community, has anyone else taken the plunge (into PC gaming) and found it difficult to turn back?

For those of you who are interested, i used last generation parts purchased at Newegg when I built my PC to keep costs down, because like Vinnie, I have a baby boy named Max too.

I totally agree, when you get up is super memorable. The part that really stuck with me is the very first time you get to the bastion and meet the narrator. Like i said, i got chills, literally :)

@James_Giant_Peach:

I don't mean that Bastion is what i consider the overall best game of 2011, but definitely overall best sound design.

Skyrim, The Witcher 2 and Dark Souls are better overall games IMO

So back around the game of the year deliberations i was really, really annoyed with the Giant Bomb guys because I felt like the site was becoming a Bastion advertisement. I was also annoyed because the guys are friends with SuperGiant and it seemed biased when they gushed over how good Bastion supposedly is.

Well, i played Bastion for the first time this past week. I got chills like the first time i played Metal Gear Solid as a 12 year old. Trust me when i say if you haven't played Bastion go do it, because it really is that good. The gameplay is deep, but what really got me is the sound design. The music and narration flow together so well i don't really see how anything in 2011 could be considered better (sorry, Portal 2). If you've been on the fence about Bastion, go play the demo on steam and see if that convinces you.

I went from skeptic to believer in a matter on 30 minutes.
