I played the Full Game Trial of this game on PSN. My opinions are only about the first hour of the game.Hell's Highway is my first foray into the Brothers in Arms series. The story seems to be woven deeply into the wider Brothers in Arms series. The pistol in the game will come to play a large role, I believe. Along with the deep story, the visuals help to make the interplay between the characters much more detailed and believable then almost any other first person shooter set in WWII.With only ...
Saint Row: The Third is at once a breath of fresh air and a return to form for the open world/sandbox genre of games. The craziness of the open world genre fizzled out after the Hot Coffee incident, but it seems to have been rekindled with SR:TT. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, while a departure from the the previous games, was never as outrageous as SR:TT. But, that outrageousness is what makes this game unique and keeps the player coming back to find out what kind of crazy shit has yet to come....
There is a childish tone throughout Fat Princess. A tone slathered in sticky, syrupy blood. Disguised under a sugary sweet skin and outlined in cel-shading, Fat Princess challenges the way we look at standard capture-the-flag and deathmatch game types. Every part of the game is manicured to the n degree to be adolescently simple. The single player game isn't anything more than a tutorial for those who can't read the text tutorial. Once finally online it is easy to join matches and learn the basic...
Each trick in Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers is a tactical puzzle torn between offense and defense. When the player first starts Magic the Gathering: DofP the decks that are available set up fights in a very predictable RPG way; water and fire, black and white magic, etc. But, continuing down the path of the campaign opens more powerful cards and multiples of helpful spells. Magic knows the trick to keep players, in this case, glued to the screen. The trick to this game is learni...
When Combat Evolved came to the Xbox people saw it as a new beginning for console FPS games. No longer would Goldeneye 007 be the end all be all of console FPS games. The first Halo game showed us what a good FPS game could handle like. It also gave us an Orson Scott Card-like story that many people still hold in very high regard. It was the one game that moved us more towards console dominance. The second game, unlike most game sequels, kept everything that was good and added other things to ma...
Box Art Costume Quest hits you with fun from the first moment. The game continues forward almost lackadaisically, never trying to overload the player with too many choices. This makes the game something easy to best in just a night or two. The story is easy to follow. The game mechanics are easy to perform. The game in total is easy, but without any of the negative baggage that goes along with that word. The game’s gleefully colorful art style is reminiscent of Psychonauts, another Double Fin...
One Word Review: Justice League Heroes Review: Forceful I rushed through this game like a bullet train in Japan. It wasn’t too short. My play through was roughly around 8 hours or so. The other reviewers that I read had the game around the same play time. The game just held me pretty well for the time that it spent in my hands. I played the game on the PSP, which may have helped with its accessibility; I was able to take the game on the bus, to the coffee shop, or even to the bathroom. So, ...
One Word Review: Red Dead RedemptionReview: GrimyGrimy is a word that describes the look of the world in Red Dead Redemption, but it also describes the disgusting characters in the game. Every moment of RDR, the player is aware of the dirt, dust, mud, blood, and disease. It splatters the screen when you skin an animal, it’s stirred up while riding your horse, and it even is present on the whores who work at the saloons in the game. The characters are just as fleshed out as the environment in RDR....
One Word Review: Kirby's Dream LandReview: Bubbly(This is a new style of review that I am going to be doing called "one-word reviews." I am going to choose one word that exemplifies each games mechanics, story, music, or any other information that the game conveys to me, as a player. I don't want to assign any score to the game, so if I must I suppose I will give every game a 4 star. The "score" is really the word that I have chosen, being speakers of English we should all be able to pull some p...
