I'm 100 hours in (SP & MP) combined and I'm definitely enjoying the game, especially the multiplayer. I think part of where the divisiveness about the game comes from is the fact that it's clear the devs wanted to focus more time on the MP aspect than in ME3 and hence the gameplay in SP ended up being basically identical to the MP, which was not the case in ME3.

I do agree that the SP game overall is not as immersive or as compelling as the previous games (too much focus on uninteresting side quests) but damn the game looks good on a 4K HDR display. Yes the faces and animations in the game leave much to be desired but to be honest that didn't really bother me. However I've really enjoyed the MP so I that has made up for it. It's overall probably a 7.5/10 for me.

I agree with the AI being a little overpowered but I'm still having fun with the game even though it's not a game I enjoy playing for more than a couple hours at a time. Thanks world is huge but it just feels way too repetitive. The fact that it came out around the same time as BOTW also has not been helping this game.

Finally, a reason to play my PS4 again. And good timing too as I'm about done with running Dark Souls III for the moment.

Sigh, this quick look reminded me that I've yet to finish LoTV (I'm like halfway through I believe) due to all the other games that came out late last year and well as early this year.

Seems like they are basically using the same architecture but just increasing either the clock speed or adding additional cores to the GPU. In either case, if this new GPU is close to say an R9 290 in terms of raw performance then 4K 30 fps will be a reasonable goal in many games given that devs can code with much lower API overhead. However, given that Sony has insisted this will not split the user base I assume this means that games coming out for both systems will probably just be like a PC game where the dev team will have to optimize a game assuming that different hardware will run the game. Though optimizing for two different hardware sets rather than a million different ones is obviously easier.

Having played through most of this game on the 1.00 version on the Xbone (lots of frame drops in various areas, the Xbone patch didn't release until I had already beaten the game once), I can't wait to play the PC version at glorious 60 fps and high resolutions. That being said, this game is probably up there in terms of my favorite souls games.

While 4K at 30 fps will be reasonable for a PS 4.5 type product (since currently high-end GPU can run most games at 4K 30 fps), 4K 60 fps is probably not gonna be a reasonable expectation if Sony wants to keep the price at $400 and not take a loss on the hardware, even if this came out in a couple of years. Honestly though if I were to have to pick between 4K 30 fps vs 1080p 60 fps, I would take 1080p 60 fps 95% of the time.

Like some others, I'm disappointed that Bloodborne didn't make it on the list but it's totally understandable. For me it's by far the game of the year but it certainly can be an acquired taste if your not into the souls style of games.
