Biggest disappointments in gaming

List items

  • Incredible disappointment after utterly brilliant Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back. First half of the game is boring, second half of the game is pretty good but then the end comes surprisingly soon.

  • Yeah, it's more realistic, but more realism doesn't mean more fun. Over the top atmosphere was one of the reasons why earlier GTAs were so great. Checkpoints before long drives are terribly dated.

  • Everything that made Final Fantasy game a Final Fantasy game was stripped. No exploration, no towns, no side quests, no characters to talk to. Only part of the game that's passable is Chapter 11 (of 13). Even the character development was completely linear. The plot is next to impossible to follow with too many similar words. What a letdown after great X and superb XII. I'd take Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey over this any day.

  • After having been hailed the best thing since ever this adventure game was hugely disappointing. Yes, it tries to do some sort of crude "life simulation", but is incredibly limited and in the end surprisingly railroaded. Real time makes sure that there's a lot of boring wait time, and causes a lot of other issues. Of course, being chapter one of 16 (or 11, depending on who you believe) it doesn't end properly, and you don't feel like accomplishing anything.
