I got this game on sale in October for half off on steam and blazed through it. I mostly had a good time and played with a controller although there were a few jumps where i had to switch to the mouse and keyboard since the controller didn't seem responsive enough. I also had a graphical glitch on the last level witch froze my game a bunch of times and had to nerf some settings to keep playing. I used to twin blades mostly to the end. My normal strategy in souls games is to go slow with a medium sized weapon and block and dodge but in this game i just tore through the enemies as quickly as possible. The various mods you can equip led to a lot of experimentation until i found i good setup of being able to gain a lot of energy from attacking, reducing energy use and the amount of energy needed to perform finishing moves and gaining health back when using a finishing move. i also found some armor that gave me health for killing enemies making it even easier to just run up on them and pummel them to death. The drone that Brad has that shoots doesn't require energy to use but does only one damage per shot if you dont have enough of the energy bar filled for a higher damage shot and can be used like the bow in Dark Souls to lure single enemies that are in groups to you. By the time i got to the end it was clear that i had done the thing i do in all these games which is grind and over level to the point where the bosses got too easy.
I had a feeling back in August that CrybabyKnowns BetaCheatingGrounds would win and couldn't justify giving these guys more money with the direction they were heading in. It was one of the few games that was released this year that i played but everything else on the list and all the stuff other people mentioned look and sound way better, even Destiny 2 which doesn't look great IMO. 5 hours to get to what i predicted months ago seems ridiculous.
I just had an idea; for the squad match they should've had team Giant Bomb break up, put one member in charge of each squad, and then fill them out with randos. See whose squad can make it to the top, giving each squad an identity. Also, inviting Will's team was just unfair.
The original idea was for GB to be carried by Pascual and Spite Club (Will's team who are also part of the community) but a wrench/spanner was thrown in and messed the plan up. Having each one of the members of GB, Wills team and Pascual captain a team would have been a cool solution to the problem but Jeff ran out of patients looking at the "the fucking menu".
It's funny to me to think about say Jeff complaining nonstop about any FPS that didn't have a jetpack and wall running a bit ago and now liking this game so much. This is always why I hated that line of reasoning, because this is what you gain.
its not really an fps since its third person with first person being optional. Jeff also stated he doesn't like first person only in this game.
