Personally I felt this post was a little tone deaf, but I suspect the shock of it all meant this was the best post folks could muster.
GB has never been the same since Ryan's passing. How could it be? But the departure of Vinny, Brad, and Alex was just too much of a blow to ever recover from. And now with Jeff Gertsmann leaving? Well... he was really the only tie I had left to the site I fell in love with in the first place. And to use your adage, sure... sometimes sports franchises take on a new owner, a new GM, a new athlete... But sometimes those changes just don't work out. Sometimes the new blood and new philosophy just doesn't align with what made fans fall in love with the team in the first place.
Sincerely wish the best of luck for all impacted by the announcement today. Especially considering that probably includes everyone.
As for speculation? Well, we'll just have to wait and see, but the fact that Tina Amini announced her departure today? I'd be lying if my first thought didn't point to Jeff as the new IGN editor-in-chief.
