My current gaming lineup

I just bought my first house and it is currently under construction. If you yourself has purchased one, then you know of the large stacks of ongoing paperwork that you must complete as soon as you can; if you are looking for one, get ready for it. I say this because this puts me in a gaming slump. I have not had much time to sit down and play some games for a while due to paperwork and a wife who wants me to view every decorating idea she sees in a magazine. But I have picked up a little game for my G1 (Android Phone) called World War by Storm8. I have become instantly addicted. I can't stop myself from picking my phone up and checking my money status every hour on the hour, just so I don't get attacked and lose it all. Has anyone else out there played this very fun text based game?

Almost to level 50...

As the holiday season quickly approached, I told myself I needed to reach my Borderlands main character to level 50. I knew that as soon as my wife didn't have to work that I would have absolutely no extended time to play the game... let alone any game. So here we are now, my character is halfway through level 49, I have not been able to play for 5 days or so, and I am anxious to get to 50. My wife is currently making apple pies for our last Christmas shindig of the year... and I am having to sit here and watch "The Holiday" whilst she bakes. I am so close to level 50... I just need an hour. One hour...

Barcode Beasties!!

I don't know if anyone has ever played this game, or if I am alone, but Barcode Beasties for Android devices is awesome. I use this all the time when my wife is shopping, when I am using the restroom, or when I don't feel like committing to a longer video game. I had found a level 6 Goblin off a tube of tooth paste, and he has been my prize beastie for almost 3 months... my friend was playing with my phone last night and was curious about the game. Shortly thereafter he scans a picture frame (that was in MY HOUSE!) and it was a freaking level 10. I am angry, and now I am on a quest to beat him. Anyone have a good beastie that could challenge a level 10 Sorcerer ATT:114 DEF: 134 HP:361?

RoboDefense, ODST, Football and more!

The absolute best game I have played on my Android powered phone has to be Robo Defense by Lupis Labs Software. I have been playing this game for all of 4 months now, and it is still incredibly fun. I only play it while my wife is making me "watch" various "talent" shows and other assorted current series... also while I am laying in bed trying to sleep, using the restroom, or waiting in lines. If anyone reading this has an Android phone, you need to download this game, I think it is only $1.99 and it will bring you hours upon hours of tower defense greatness.

Saturday morning my wife and I drove to Memphis TN, because I had to take a test for my job at noon, and while we were there we decided to eat some Memphis BBQ. We had heard only great things about it and how it is the best BBQ ever... I didn't taste too much of a difference than any other BBQ I have had. The big difference was that they have pork at hand whereas where I live that isn't always an option. After taking my test and eating BBQ we hopped back in the car and make the 7 1/2 hour trip home. I drove the entire way there and the entire way back... my wife slept for about 75% of the drive. I don't quite get how she could possibly sleep that much, quite impressive if you ask me.

On the way home from Memphis, one of my buddies (we'll call him Merlin) called me up and asked if he and "Jester" could come over Sunday and play some games. My wife works almost all day (bartender) on Sundays so of course I said yes. They call me at about noon today and tell me they are heading out, it takes them about 30 minutes to get to my place, so after hanging up my phone (is it really called "hanging up" when you press a little red button on the phone? Isn't it called hanging up because you used to physically hang up the phone?) I decide to get out the 32" Samsung from our bedroom and place it to the left of my 46" Samsung in the living room. I start playing some Halo3 on my big TV and have the football games on the smaller one while I wait for them to arrive. When they get here I open the door to see that Merlin has brought his 26" Samsung as well as his XBox360. So now I have from left to right a 32", 46", and a 26" all Samsung Series 6 LCD TVs. I have 2 XBox360s as it is, so now we are playing Halo3 on all 3 screens. It looks like an advertisement for Samsung, Bungie, and Microsoft. We had a great time playing Halo3 for a while, but then the Cowboys Giants game was about to start, so we went down to 2 screens and played through the campaign in ODST, with a couple of games of firefight mixed in. After we started playing the campaign time flew by. Next thing we know it is 8:30 and Minnesota is getting torn a new one by Arizona. All in all I would consider this to be an excellent day.

Wife is home now, doing some online Christmas shopping... Merlin and Jester are home... Merlin just text me to see if I want to play some more games... we are trying to decide if we want to play Borderlands or get all the achievements for ODST... I am trying to decide if I am going to get in trouble if I play MORE games. What shal I do?

First taste of Dragon Age: Origins

I just started playing Dragon Age: Origins today whilst I root for my fantasy football teams to win. Before I get going too far into writing (which might not be that far at all), I must let you know I am playing this for XBox 360. I wish I had the money for a computer that could play games, because this would be one that I much prefer on PC, but I am not going to deny a gift! Back to the topic at hand... I absolutely love the bloody dragon intros that EA and BioWare put together. The game seems a little glitchy as it goes through the couple of scenematic sequences, not the smoothest thing I have seen, but doesn't really deter my outlook on the game. I do enjoy the multiple choice answers that you can give to eat NPC, but I am also a little thrown off. I know I just started the game and all, but it seems that they leave the answers out there trying to get you to select a specific one so you can continue the story. I am not sure if it is because of what I am choosing so far, but after I choose one, they say something else to me and out pops a couple of the same selection to answer again. So far the gameplay isn't that bad, or at least as bad as some of these reviews and forums made me assume it was. I think it is pretty simple and easy to pick up. What I don't like as much so far is the fact that you have to stand there while you fight... I mean while I am hitting thats fine, but one would think you would be able to move if they were attacking you. Again I would like to state that this is not rough enough to skew me off the enjoyment path. I am enjoying this game so far, and I am going to continue to play when I get a chance. I am worried though; I work around 54 hours a week, also a newlywed, and I am getting my actual career going at this point, and when my time is not going to be dedicated to playing games I might lose interest in a story that I am off and on playing. I hope that this game is addictive enough to where I will want to pick it up when I have time and continue the 60-80 hour in game story... to inevitably save the world.

Time and time again I fall back on...

Yesterday was my birthday and after the days events were coming to an end, the controllers came out. The few friends that know me best knew I was going to be up for games as soon as the non-gamers in the group had dispersed, so they hung around in waiting. Of course the first game we play is Modern Warfare 2; the new Hotness. It took all of 1 split-screen game for us to grow tired of it. Granted we all have the game, and I can't speak for the others, but I have logged over 2 days of online play. Nonetheless... we grew tired. We went down to pairs and started playing the Spec-Ops missions. That lasted for a good 2 games per pair (4 guys total... so 4 games) and again we were searching for more entertainment. So we decide to pop in ODST. Again in pairs we begin to play Firefight. As if I were 17 and had no responsibilities again, we lost track of time. All of us engaged in our game play; sweating palms, unblinking eyes, and roars of excitement. What is it about the Halo games that can keep this type of attention game after game? So it is now no longer my birthday, my Wife has been asleep for some time, the guys are on their way home, and I am up wanting more. Don't know exactly where this is going, but it was on my mind, and if I have learned anything about Blogs and the internet, this really doesn't have to go anywhere in particular. So there it is.
