@Andorski: That's a really good idea about selling as is but I'm worried about personal information. Unfortunately the old machine won't even turn on long enough to wipe that information. Does anyone know if your credit card number and all that is kept on the HDD or in system memory? If it's kept on the HDD that'd be great news because I would swap the old drive into the new machine.
@Gabriel: If the HDD is fine you can pull it out and put it in your new machine. That should take care of game saves and downloads. I would hope you can log in to PSN with your old ID on the new machine as long as you remember your password. That should fix trophies and friend lists.
My PS3 just died from overheating. I have an original model with an Emotion Engine so it has full backward compatibility. I'm out of warranty and I can't decide if I should pay $150 to get it serviced or spend $275 on Dell.com to get a new one. I don't really play PS2 games so the backward compatibility doesn't matter much. (Don't even know if Sony would send back my own system or some other refurbished unit.) I can't control the heat in my apartment so I wonder if a Slim would be better... I've heard they don't run as hot. Thoughts and opinions?
62. You can be associated with the Nazi party in 1938 and still become a village holy man. (As long as you shoot enough of your SS buddies in the face.)
