Robert Madsen, the principle and founder of SynaptixGames, began his coding career in 1979. Robert taught himself the BASIC programming language continued as a COBOL and FORTRAN programmer. Robert also held positions as a technical writer, disaster recovery planner, and data security administrator. Robert started his own software development firm in 1992 and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science in 1998 from California State University. Robert entered the game industry in 2004, working for MumboJumbo in Dallas, TX in 2008. In 2009 he moved to Other Ocean Interactive in Charlottetown, PEI. Robert founded SynaptixGames, in 2011 where he continues as Studio Director.
With over 35 years of experience in information technology, Robert brings with him a deep and wide set of skills in programming, technical writing, project planning, disaster recovery and security. Robert now has over 12 years' experience in game development, and has added simulation, data visualization, and machine learning to his credentials. Robert has experience in a wide variety of sectors including telecommunications, oil and gas, finance, education, government, small business, science, and entertainment.
Robert is an expert in C, C++, Objective C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, Lua, and Ruby. He has worked with DirectX, OpenGL, and WebGL. Robert has worked with several proprietary game engines as well as CoronaLabs, Unity, and Unreal engines. He has worked with iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices, Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop platforms, the HTML5 web platform, and Xbox, Wii, and PlayStation console platforms.
Robert has worked on many published titles including Luxor 3, Luxor: Quest for the Afterlife, Everyday Genius: Square Logic, Dark Void Zero, Globe: Earth Adventures, Addicting Games, FireCell, Minecart Rush, Bubble Crush Mania, TD by Tower Defense World, Bull Run Extreme, Agent Cayley, Clazer, Day of Destruction, and Garadget.
Robert is a member of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and is a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). He is an Expert Blogger for Gamastura.com and has written for several industry publications. Robert co-authored OpenGL Game Development by Example published by Packt Publishing Limited in 2016. Robert is also a subject matter expert (SME) for Microsoft and assists in the development of professional certification exams for IT professionals and programmers.
