The only game this year that will be played a decade from now and will continue to evolve throughout that time period. It is played on a competitive level for thousands of dollars, but can still be enjoyed by almost anyone who loves strategy games.
The best platformer I've played in awhile. Super Meat Boy gets everything right, and despite being incredibly hard, it never becomes incredibly frustrating.
I don't agree with all of the gameplay changes they made; ME2 is less of an RPG and more of an action game. But the story continues to be amazing, and the game is what it is.
A lot of people didn't like the changes this game made, or rather the things left out from IV. As a very casual Civ player, I found the changes is Civ V vital to my enjoyment of the game, to the point where I don't know if I'd go back. Mostly, the removal of stacking units makes this game indescribably better than its predecessors.
Red Dead Redemption has a great story and the game is beautiful. It also got me a lot more interested in westerns than I have ever been.
Battlefield came back to the PC this year, and it was better than ever.
Unlike the Call of Duty series, Bungie didn't just release another Halo. Reach improves a lot from Halo 3 multiplayer, although the single player campaign is a little disapointing being the last of the series.
