Brad and Jeff are still great but UPF just isnt what it used to be :-(

Why do people feel compelled to make this comment every single goddamned week?

I'm just guessing here, but maybe it's because UPF happens on a weekly basis.

@skithus: ME1 Still had all the alien races as new cultural identities to explore. Narratively they were limited by all the newness of the universe. Where the later games didn't have to offer as much world building exposition. In Andromeda, given all of mostly the same races they also don't have any excuses.

I'd also say that ME1, in lieu of the well developed returning characters, also had the most interesting main storyline out of all the games. It is only in later games that Loyalty missions took more involved narrative contribution to the games.

I should have specified games and tech media. Politics wouldn't be bleeding into our beloved Beastcast had Palmer not been involved. Nimble America isn't a persuasive and charismatic force that warrants reporting on all channels.

Coverage of the Alt-Right is almost always anti, unless the coverage is from an Alt-Right affiliated source. I stand by what I said. They aren't a storm on the horizon about which we need to be warned. Stories about them generate clicks however, so they unfortunately get promoted.

Also, yeah. If you call avoiding click-bait, trash Twitter accounts, and gossipy news sources "living in a box" then just call me "Solid Snake" baby!

Ever heard of GamerGate? the two are quite heavily affiliated. You keep making the comment that nobody needs to be informed about this, but you don't seem to have a grasp on the situation at all. What you advocate for is essentially this:

bleeding into beloved Beastcast? *snort*

Had Palmer Luckey not been involved, the media (new and old) wouldn't be running stories about a new and dangerous Alt-Right movement, because they're not dangerous. They're not a movement. They aren't driving any real wedges between any real sides of any real discourse. Nobody who isn't already jelly-brained would ever find their ideas compelling.

I could be wrong. Maybe I'm too desensitized. Maybe I just have too much faith in humanity. I just find it hard to believe that Nimble America takes itself seriously. Ignoring them is an effortless thing.

Dude, do you live in a box or something?

People have been running stories about the alt-right for a long time. Also seemingly 40% of america is pretty friendly to a lot of their supremacist views.

@dryker: Sure, I can totally see that. But he says he doesn't like it. Either way, I guess these are more data points towards my hypothesis as to how the MM score was inflated.

Though I'm fairly sure this hypothesis applies to a load of games on this list, including Bloodborne or LiS or even MGSV.

@paulmako: It his (and your list), you can do what you like with it and ultimately it would be stupid to ask for proof in one of these lists, who knows what other weird criteria people use.

This is doubly true of the example above, where the poster doesn't like the game, but likes the fact that others like it. How do you rate it on your list if the game elicits no personal feelings?

@tuxfool: true, but don't you think it will fuel even more shit talking on W3 the same day when Bloodborne will be anounced the winner? I even dare to say in the same goty thread.

Nah. It will be the usual loudmouths, but for the most part I don't actually think there is ill will generally.

We'll see.

@tuxfool: gaf, because video games are SERIOUS business. Or I just want to see the meltdowns.

It ain't happening. I'd love to see the meltdowns too, but I respect the right for people to express their preference. There are so many votes that have both games in first and second place that I don't think it really matters.

Mario did better than I expected.

Tinfoil hat theory says that many people that didn't even play the game voted for it. No way to add any credence to it, unless somebody fesses up to doing this.
