What happened to this game? 0

Mercenaries 2 feels a great deal like EA and Pandemic took the first game, added a fresh coat of paint and online co-operative play, changed the setting to Venezuela, and then hit the send button.   This could be a great thing if they had not also removed many aspects of the first game which made it so much fun to play. In Mercenaries you were trying to track down to capture of kill a 'deck of cards.' This deck consisted of 52 different leaders, and these leaders were scattered and hidden in var...

#1... in a field of 1. 1

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009 PLATFORM (Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii)PUBLISHER (EA)PRICE $60ESRB RATING (E fo Everyone)PLAYERS (1-4)   Many reviewers have called Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009 the best realistic golf game available on the market. While this statement may be true to a degree, it is also much less of a compliment when you realize that Tiger Woods '09 is the only simulation stlye golf game to release this year.   It is not that hard to be number one in a field of competition of exactly one...

Order Up! is better than you think! 0

Order Up! PLATFORM (Wii)PUBLISHER (ZOO Games)PRICE $40 (Wii)ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1)   WAIT! I know you want to skip this article, but just give me a second. Sure, you probably have taken one look at the title of this game and decided that you would have no interest in it, but there is a great deal about Order Up! that will entertain even the most jaded of gamers.   Many of you have probably been burned by cheap-o Wii titles that were rushed to market just to steal your money by ...

Officially boring! 0

Beijing 2008: The Official Game PLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)PUBLISHER (Sega)PRICE $50ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1-4, 8 online)   Like me, many of you have probably seen the Summer Olympics on TV and intently watched as athletes perform for the world. Unlike me, though, I hope you have been lucky enough to not buy the Beijing 2008 videogame.   Stubbornly stuck in game-play ages old, yet trying to be something new by mapping the  'mash the button' controls onto new style controllers, Bei...

Sid Meier loves to steal your free time. 0

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution PLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360, DS)PUBLISHER (2K Games)PRICE $30 (DS) - $60 (PS3, Xbox 360)ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1-4)   Some games are a true struggle to review. This is the case with Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution. Not because it is bad in any way, but simply because I am not that good at it. What makes me confident enough to review the game despite my weakness at playing it is easy to describe. Despite the fact that I have yet to win a mat...

This generic game fails where it tries to innovate. 0

Army of Two Review.posted: 03/19/2008 Army of Two PLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360) PUBLISHER (EA) PRICE $60 ESRB RATING (M for Mature) PLAYERS (1-4 online) Army of Two is almost a total clone of Gears of War. It copies that third person shooter so much that after the game was over and the credits rolled, I watched just to see if any of the developers had the last name Xerox. What is most surprising about this is that the game succeeds most when it is sticking to what has worked bef...

Improved in some areas, yet devloved in others. 0

Condemned 2: Bloodshot Review.posted: 03/24/2008 Condemned 2: Bloodshot PLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360) PUBLISHER (Sega) PRICE $60 ESRB RATING (M for Mature) PLAYERS (1-8 online) The first Condemned came out alongside the launch of the Xbox 360. I found myself completely immersed in it's visceral blend of the survival horror and first person shooter genres. The first person melee made the game slower, but this worked well because it added to the claustrophobia and sense of dread this...

Super Smash Brothers Brawl Review.posted: 03/31/2008 Super Smash Brothers Brawl PLATFORM (Wii) PUBLISHER (Nintendo) PRICE $50 ESRB RATING (T for Teen) PLAYERS (1-4 online) Whittled down to its base experience Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii is a Nintendo fan's dream game. It takes both popular and obscure characters from Nintendo's huge library and pits them against each other in a simple to control fighting game that is designed for amazingly fun multiplayer. Viking: Battle for Asgard Review.posted: 04/23/2008 Viking: Battle for AsgardPLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360)PUBLISHER (Sega)PRICE $60ESRB RATING (M for Mature)PLAYERS (1)After Conan and Beowulf I had almost given up on the burly men with swords genre. Luckily, Viking: The Battle for Asgard has come to the PS3 and Xbox 360 to restore my faith in the fact that it should always be fun to play as a human meat grinder.Viking is like a mixture of the God of War and Dynasty Warriors games. Most missions...

Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Review.posted: 05/02/2008 Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds PLATFORM (PS3)PUBLISHER (SCEI)PRICE $60ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1-4)Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds is a very lighthearted take on the game of golf but this does not mean that it is missing the depth you have come to expect from other, more realistic golf games.Where Hot Shots really shines is the way you control your golf swing. You press the X button to begin your swing. Then a translucent mar...

Grand Theft Auto IV Review.posted: 05/09/2008 Grand Theft Auto IVPLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360)PUBLISHER (Take Two)PRICE $60ESRB RATING (M for Mature)PLAYERS (1-16 online)Is Grand Theft Auto the most perfect game ever made? In many ways it is! Sure, the game is mainly a combination of many very good, just Ok, or poorly integrated elements. But the reason this game is not dragged down by its weaker bits is because it throws such an amazing assortment of activities at you. The game then allows you...

This one, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, might just be one of the most solid Clancy titles to ever come out. Sure, Splinter Cell was more flashy at the time it can out and the Ghost Recon titles might have gotten a to lead the Clancy games on the ne...

Mario Kart is simple fun. 0

Mario Kart Wii Review.posted: 05/29/2008 Mario Kart WiiPLATFORM (Wii)PUBLISHER (Nintendo)PRICE $50ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1-4, 12 online)It is a true tribute to the fun of the Mario Kart series that I managed to unlock half of the extra tracks included in Mario Kart Wii while immersed in marathon sessions of Grand Theft Auto IV. Both games offer up intense racing fun, but I doubt that anyone would disagree with me when I say that GTA IV eclipses Mario Kart when it comes to dep...

Wii Fit Review.posted: 05/31/2008 Wii FitPLATFORM (Wii)PUBLISHER (Nintendo)PRICE $90ESRB RATING (E for Everyone)PLAYERS (1-2)I keep getting asked how much fun Wii Fit is, and I keep giving the same answer; Wii Fit has a good bit of fun, but that is not exactly the point of the game.Wii Fit is a tool for fitness above anything else. It is meant to be played daily as an addition to your fitness regiment. It is not a replacement for a healthy diet or going to the gym, and it is not a "game". ...

Alone in the Dark PLATFORM (PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, Wii)PUBLISHER (Atari)PRICE $50 - $60ESRB RATING (M for Mature)PLAYERS (1)   How much you like Alone in the Dark will depend on how much of a glutton for punishment you are. There was about 4 hours at the beginning of this game that I was in love with the game, but as the multitude of problems with the game began to stack up, I came to the realization that the game was simply too flawed to be considered a success.   You play as Edward Carnby. 'Metal Gear Solid 4' is a masterpiece despite a few flaws 0

Published: Friday, July 18, 2008 - 2:00 am By Frank AndersonWRITING FOR LINK Related clicks: 'Mario Kart' for Wii is fun for all gamers (07/11/08) "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" has been hailed as the game that will make buying a PS3 worthwhile, and on many fronts it holds up to the hype. It has some of the most amazing production values of any game ever created. The "Metal Gear" series has created enough loose ends that it would take more than a few games to tie them all up satis...
