Some companies are known for creating great RPGs or FPS, well Codemasters in the UK is earning a reputation for making the best racing games out there.  GRID is a pure racing game that exposes you to multiple racing styles based on the region you are racing.  That means you'll have drift racing events in Japan, open wheel racing in Europe and street racing (on closed courses) in the US.

As you start out you will have access to all three regions rookie races.  You will first have to race for other teams earning reputation and money until you've worked enough to get your own car and racing team.  As you build rep in the three regions you'll open up more races.  As you perform better you'll gain sponsors that will reward you for accomplishing specific goals in a race like finishing no worse than 3rd.  This will add to your bank account and help you to buy more cars so you can enter more races.

Graphically GRID is an amazingly beautiful game that does a great job rendering cities and race tracks.  The lighting and smoke in the game are very impressive.  The game incorporates real time damage to your car and will force you to drive safer since the damage will cause your car to perform worse.  Considering the real damage model, the excellent handling and beauty of the game it is a technical masterpiece.

I tend to play a lot of racing games and I have to say GRID is the pinnacle of the genera.  This game exposes you to multiple racing styles, car types and race conditions.  If you are a serious racing fan this game should be in your collection.  It is an amazing game that I'm loving right now.
