How to Survive Too Human

If there is one thing I've noticed in Too Human is that I die a lot.  It's kind of crazy but in my first play through I died over 100 times (achievement unlocked).   Now part of the problem I think I had was I just did not know how to assign skills and when to upgrade armor and weapons.  I also did not know how to get myself out of bad situations unscathed.

First things first, Too Human will be dropping loot like crazy as you kill enemies.  Every once in a while you need to stop, check the state of your armor and see if you have better armor.  I often did these every time I leveled up since I would pause the game to assign skill points as well.  Early on as you level up you will be allowed to use some of the better armor you have already picked up.

Each piece of armor has a state as well and once it's down to zero it will flash red on your character.  You will be dieing fast if any of your armor drops down to zero and you continue to wear it.  Between missions be sure to visit Idunn's cybernetics lab in Asgard to repair your armor.  At Idunn's lab you can also unlock the armor designs you pick up in the game.  These are often much better than anything you'll find and wear immediately.

As you outfit yourself in armor you may notice you have open runes slots.  You can place the runes you find in those slots.  These can make you less susceptible to certain types of damage, increase weapon damage, increase health or make you more agile in combat.   I never really noticed these till the end.  By adding these to your armor you will definitely stay alive longer.

You can also apply runes to open slots on your guns and melee weapons as well.  It is important to make sure these weapons are in a good state as well so that you can get the maximum damage out of them.

As you level up in Too Human you will be given skill points to apply to your skill tree to improve your character.  I found that I was trying to be to balanced with my skill points.  On the main tree I assigned points to all three top nodes.  Well eventually you have to pick which one node you want to go down.  As you advance down that node you open up more attacks.  In hind site I should have just placed the majority of those early points in the sword combat column to open up my Battle Cry sooner.  You can respec or reset your skill point assignments at any point in the game.

While on the skill tree you can use the right trigger to see your secondary skill tree.  I forgot to assign points here till the last mission.  Considering this is where you can assign points to speed up your combo meter I made the game a lot harder than it should have been.  This section will differ depending on which path you chose to take: Human Balder or Cybernetic Balder.

While on missions in combat it is very important o keep moving around.  Unlike some action games the enemies in Too Human are more than willing to circle you and take you on in groups.  You need to avoid getting surounded.  Use the roll or jump button to get out of these situations.  Also try to get yourself into spots where you can attack multiple enemies by sliding back and forth between them.  This will keep them off of you as you attack others.  If they do get around you user ruiner attack to free your self if you have one saved up.  A Battle Cry is also helpful in this situation.

I hope this helps those of you struggling through Too Human.  As you play through the game you will get to the point where you rarely die because you armor is so strong and you can one hit kill most minor enemies.  This game really does reward those that hunt for secrete rooms and explore cyberspace in the game.  There is a lot of cool loot out there just waiting for you to discover it.
