  • The characters, story and soundtrack are probably some of my all time favourites. I don't know of any game story that I would consider book material, but if there was one Nier would be the closest. This is the game I will remember from this generation. No other game has such a twist that makes you genuinely feel bad.

  • You can't play Darksiders without seeing the similarities between it and Zelda, as someone who hasn't enjoyed a Zelda game in quite a long time I feel Darksiders did everything a modern Zelda should do. While the main character was pretty bland I really enjoyed the story and some of the other characters like Ulthane and Uriel. Definitly looking forward to Darksiders 2 more than Zelda Skyward Sword.

  • Even though I enjoyed the first and loved the second Assassin's Creed, I was still skeptical about Brotherhood. It felt too soon and like an excuse to add multiplayer. But Brotherhood did everything right, even the multiplayer. Recruiting and managing Assassins was a great addition and I hope it returns in AC3. Just no more Ezio please, I'm done with him.

  • This gets the "Best game no one has heard of" award. It was my first Atelier game and alot like Recettear it doesn't really focus on combat, instead it's all about item management. The crafting system is done very well and alot like Persona 3 4 the game revolves around time management and making friends. The cast was great, didn't really run into the JRPG tropes and Rorona... best JRPG protagonist in years.

  • I love the Mass Effect universe and this was probably my most anticipated game this year. The combat overhaul was much needed but I felt that alot of the charm of the original was lost as they removed some of the RPG elements, but I still enjoyed the game enough to get all the achievements and I will even pick it up again on the PS3 this Janurary.

  • This game with a full squad of people you know on voice chat is hard to beat, I probably spent more time on this game than any other and kept coming back to it. But it's still a shooter and any enjoyment I get from it is due to those I play with, alone it doesn't hold up for me. As far as shooters go this is the only one I consider worth playing this year, great fun playing a Medic. Now for Vietnam...

  • It's linear, ok, now that's out of the way I can say I still enjoyed it, mostly after the first 20 hours but I still enjoyed it. The combat system got great towards the end but only really opened up after finishing the game, that's when it got complicated, going for those Trophies wasn't easy. Alot of the party members were well written and the world was beautiful, I just wish Hope had died early on.

  • The atmosphere and underground world of Metro 2033 is just unbelievably real and lives up to the book in every way. While it suffers from the same linear story as Half Life 2, it's just as engrossing. Not to mention how damn good this game looks on the PC. Looking forward to Metro 2034, just hope those rounds do more damage.

  • The original VC is still one of my favourite RPGs on the PS3 and while I was sad the sequel landed on the PSP it managed to improve over the first in alot of ways. There's no doubt that it is a better game, it just lost some of the originals charm due to the repeatitive missions and farming. However it seems like VC3 will be a mixture of both and is looking to be the best yet.

  • Bugs, bugs everywhere! and not just Radroaches, I counted and in the 140hours I played I had 7 crashes, which doesn't sound too bad but it was plagued by other problems. Still, it improved over Fallout 3 a heck of alot, the combat was actually enjoyable and the companions were worth having. The Vaults once again had the best writing, I just wish there were more of them. Bring on the DLC.
