Thank you giant bomb community for making sure I don't feel crazy. I love toe jam and earl 2. Trying to play it now, and even remembering back then, yes their is crazy weird delay inputs on how the game feels. It's probably worse now on lcds but it was never fast or responsive. However I can not see at ALL how jeff says it looks bad. It is still one of the most fantastic and unique looking games to me out of this era.
I love the music, the characters, the dialog, the jamming; the funk. What a fucking cool game that I wish played better. There is an unbelievable amount of hidden and hard to find stuff in that game which made it such a good game as a kid when you usually don't have very many games total.
First time I saw the first game being played on this site I didn't get it at all. At this point though it does look cool too but so much more minimalist.
@danryckert I work at lowe's in the garden department, lots of forklift. If you put a coin down and drive backwards over it, with the fork pretty flat on the ground actually touching, the coin will flip up onto the fork as you're driving backwards and it hits the end of the fork.
@gregalor: Yeah, but you aren't following detective leads. Your character has complete amnesia and forgot how to find a store that's like 5 feet away and other characters in the town are completely worthless. The entire game content up until this point was a dead end.
So basically, the entirety of the game until getting the letter was pointless, right? I mean, if someone wants to argue she wouldn't have handed it over unless she heard these rumors about you that's a thing atleast, but the entire line of talking to this person and that person leads to beating up some thugs in a park and getting a letter that had nothing to do with them. Maybe it comes back later, but it feels like hours wasted on a side quest at this point that the game forces you to do.
The content is great to watch but the game is really awful.
Always wanted to play so bad, muramasa was fun(and too easy/too hard without a good middle difficulty for me), but the framerate and seemingly obtuse or atleast blah mechanics stopped me just enough from diving in. This is a must buy now. Holy shit the expanded and re-done systems make it look so much better to me
Is it just me or does anyone else feel "proud" about seeing some of the bigger "gets" sitting on the couch? It's not some 5 minute talk on the show floor with a mic in your face. Talk with Phil was great; I hope his ideas and wants come to fruition. I don't want to buy an xbox one if I don't need to. I have a great pc but I'd love to play some microsoft exclusives with proper pc treatment. Also having no other guests when he was on was probably a duh moment but good.
Now let's see what hooligans the rest of the night had..
