Activision, The Secret World, and Star Trek!

I just read the latest update on Dj Hero, and a few of Activision's upcoming line-up. I really had some fun on the Guitar Hero franchise, but to be honest I'm over the games now. World Tour was good, but so was Rock Band. So I've played and moved on from these games, yet their trying to broaden the games to other instruments, and styles of music, and their making a Guitar Hero 5...come on. I may try Dj Hero just to see what it may be like, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it, I'm sure one of my friends will buy it.

One of the cooler looking controllers in the series.

The Guitar Hero games keep feeling like a rehash of the previous games with maybe the slightest update its kind of annoying. I'd rather lan some Call of Duty 4, and Halo 3 I really enjoy action games over music simulation. Because to me singing music is fun but can get old quick, but I can seriously sit there for hours on end shooting my friends on the other games.

I also saw a Band Hero title, and their serious? What was World Tour? To be honest Activision is losing my interest by a large percentage. With the same genre of game, and technically the same game coming out every year, what should I have interest in? While the drums were a really cool addition to these style of games, it was Rock Band that first did it.

Now moving onto The Secret World, a new MMORPG coming out for both the Xbox 360, and the PC. It's a story based MMO, which is totally different from what we've seen, and judging by the trailor I saw it looks damn good. There won't be any level's elliminating grinding, and no Classes. It feels strange to not have a class, but that only makes me more interested in this game! I used to play World of Warcraft a lot, I quit awhile back because it was taking up too much of my time, and to be honest I didn't really enjoy the game much anymore. I still love MMO's but WoW wasn't that great to begin with, it's kind of like the Mcdonald's of MMO's. I really enjoyed Lord of the Rings Online that game rocked, but when I played it none of my real life buddies were interested, they were to invested into WoW.

Well Star Trek comes out tonight into theaters at midnight, I'll be there rockin' my nerd vest and eatin' some popped corn. Enjoy your weekend people!

Is the Playstation 3 Worth It?

While my last generation console addiction, was heavily involved into the Microsoft Xbox, and Sony's Playstation 2, I've only been playing this generation on my Xbox 360.  I've been dying to get a Playstation 3 ever since it was first announced, because Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, and a few others have just been on my mind. When I first got my hands onto a Playstation 3 it was my cousins console. I played some Resistence Fall of Man, and didn't seem too enjoy it all to much. The only feeling I got from that game for about 4-5 hours was... wow I've played this game before. While graphically it was kind of shocking, it was the same ol' repetitive FPS gameplay I have enjoyed for about 6-7 years before hand.

But after seeing things like Killzone 2 and MGS4, I've really wanted to get my hands on the system. I was one of the few people back in 2004 who really enjoyed the first Killzone game, while it did have many bugs that didn't really bother me. Also being a huge Metla Gear Solid fan I really don't see a problem with getting the system until the price comes into view. Now I can afford the system, but does it offer much besides these 2 games, and possibly Little Big Planet worth getting for?

Washington's Wastelands

I have just recently got into Fallout 3, I put it off for awhile due to work/school, and a collaboration of other uninteresting things. Now that I have a lot of free time on my hands, I've decided to invest them into games I haven't been able to play, or at least play the amount of time I want to give into each of these games;

-Fallout 3
-Far Cry 2
-Fable 2

Ironically those all start with "F" and are sequels. Although I haven't gotten too those games yet I haven't wasted all my free time doing nothing. I've beaten Resident Evil 5, and have had some time to doddle in Street fighter 4.

So far going through the Fallout 3 campaign I was a wearing a big grin on my face. It has too have one of the more interesting openings to a game I've played in a long time. While growing through my childhood, and teen years I found it very intriguing to discover what has become of things, and how Vault 101 is growing. They seemed to have a few really cool characters, but I feel it kind of sucks to see that you leave 99% of them behind, it would've been pretty cool to gather a group of people too escape, then after you get out  of Vault 101 everyone goes off and does their own thing. Maybe you could find them later in the game, and they could give you a side quest who knows.

I've only done a few main, and side quests, but I can already see why it won game of the year. While it doesn't seem to offer a varied stats system like The Elder Scrolls series, I felt that section of the game had some short comings. While I do enjoy it becoming even more combative then Bethesda's previous games, I do miss gaining points in Athletics, to give me a reason to run all over the Wastelands of Washington D.C.. Oh well I'll get over it, it's not like it's completely boring to walk everywhere, since I keep running into shit tons of animals and bandits along the way.

I should be beating this game sometime soon, and when I do I might throw a review of my own just for opinion purposes.

The Elder Scrools Re-Addiction...

As of late I've been developing a couple characters on The Elder Scrolls 3 & 4. While I finished my time with Oblivion(4) back in 2007, I just had this sudden urge to hop on my PC, and just play it. After putting about 8 hours into the game, I decided well its been around 5 years since I last played Morrowind(3), and I have about 10 hours on that.

If I remember correctly I put 250+ hours into Oblivion, and 300+ into Morrowind back in the day. I didn't play Morrowind after oblivion first came out much, maybe for a  "might as well go around killing shit for a few minutes" just to fool around. But after my recent time spent on both games I've come to the conclusion of this; Morrowind brought more to the table of skill-ups, more ground to tread, and more cities. Yes I love Oblivion what with its amazing structure, beatifully written theatrics, and revolutionizing graphics.

If Bethesda is working on the next Elder Scrolls title, I really hope they put the skills back the way they were, more indepth. But want that feeling Oblivion brought to the table of pure epic.
