I wish it came with any game but Halo. I'm not a huge Halo guy and really want something new instead.

Somehow I mis-googled earlier. Found on Game FAQs:

But it shouldn't. Even if you have one gold piece left, you can execute this

following cheat on the Apple.

1. create a character G

2. back up your B-disk. Call the original B1 and the backup B2.

3. Pool all your gold to one character. Have him(A), along with G, leave

Sorpigal on B1, but remove the rest of your party.

4. When in Sorpigal, switch B1 and B2. Pool your gold to G and Enter the inn

to save to B2.

5. Remove A and exit to Sorpigal. Remove B2 and insert B1.

6. Go to the inn to save to B1.

Now all characters are preserved except G. G has the gold A pooled to him.

But so does A, still, according to B1! Pool A and G's gold to A and repeat

steps 3-6 until you've got all the gold you want.

Back in my Apple II days I remember that we figured out or read somewhere how to double your gold.

I remember it had something to do with copying the data disk and entering or exiting an Inn.

Does anybody remember this? or how to do it? I'll go experiment later, but maybe the collective knowledge will be able to remember.

Maybe at least now somebody will be able to offer the old games on GOG or Steam or ANYWHERE.

For those having problems, can you open a command prompt and type:

nslookup media.giantbomb.com

Let me know the result you get for Name: and what range the IPs are in the Address list.

e.g.

Name: d39yedjjim14sn.cloudfront.net

Addresses: 216.137.41.xxx

When i get 216.137.41 address it maxes out at 150kb/s

When i get 54.240.190.xx address it cruises along

Depending on where you are you should get a different IPs to direct you to the fastest server. Let's see if we can figure out what is going on and maybe get somebody on staff to help get it fixed.

Crafting is a major part of MMOs and RPGs these days, but I can't remember when that started. What is the first RPG, (not MMO) that you can remember having crafting?

The fact that I haven't seen any takeover rumors does not bode well. If the project were close to completion, I'm sure they would have shopped it to another game publisher to bridge until the game started to make money. Without any rumors of takeover, you have to assume either that the game is too far away from generating revenue to make the bridge loan payments until release (and income). The only option is that publishers do not see any value in the product at all. In that case, it's a real shame.

Though not a huge fan of RA Salvatore, he's pumped out a metric ass ton of fantasy stories and worlds. Todd McFarlane might not be the writer/creator he once was, but his art still sends chills down my spine. I was really excited to see what they would do with a MMO.

It is also sad news for Big Huge Games, who seemingly will have to close up shop (unless there is a buyer) again. It doesn't look like they will ever give us another Rise of Nations or AoE. Their acquisition by 38 studios had made me excited for some really strategic component to the MMO, but perhaps that was just my hope.

Thanks for the comments. Perhaps some friends had exaggerated their issues.

I did play B&W I for a while after I posted and it really is a fun as I'd remembered.

I have heard over and over that this game was so buggy that it wasn't recommended.

Did the patches ever clean up those problems and provide a stable game?
