I just want to jump in here and show my support for the site for the statement. Also even prouder to be a part of this community when I see that the vast majority of people on the forum aren't buying the side of threats and violence. And I want to give my extreme gratitude for Patrick Klepek who continues to work tirelessly to make the internet a place for us all.
My question: when does the counter-movement take off? When can equality for all in the video game industry stop being a reaction to #gamergate and start being a movement on it's own? We have a beautiful group of well-wishers here, how does that turn into action that makes games and games media a safe and inclusive place for everyone? As a white male in the demographic I would genuinely enjoy a more diverse gaming experience then having every game in the AAA space cater to me. How can we get giant publishers to make games with a wider appeal?
Every year I look forward to the Giant Bomb end of the year GOTY podcasts and every year I kick myself for not playing half the games and thus having no opinion. This year is going to be different; What games do you think will be in discussion for GOTY top 10 lists this year?
I don't want to send them friend requests or message them, I want to compete with their gamerscore. I'm going to beat Major Nelson in the next month or two (57,0000) and I need a new goal.
I googled this thoroughly and all I could find was Jeff's (GiantBombing = 130k) and I'd like a more achievable goal to strive for.
Crazy erratic speeds, sometimes open NAT sometimes not, kicked me off, a lot, took me two days of downloading to get RB2 integrated to RB3. I was convinced it was my router (about to cancel the new one on the way) but now I think it's the Xbox itself. One month out of warranty from my last repair.
Proud to say I haven't given Activision a dime since Modern Warfare and I will keep it that way unless this game is somehow amazing. My sense is that although Kotick clearly has surgically implanted bombs in the skulls of Treyarch employees designed to detonate if the Metacritic score is <90, I haven't heard or seen anything that gives me hope that this will be anything other than another Modern Warfare clone from Treyarch. And best indications are that it was completely rushed. I'd love to be convinced otherwise, why are some of you hopeful? I grant that some of the new game modes sound cool, but I think a compelling storyline and excellent fundamental multiplayer are musts.
I would enjoy some sort of Giant Bomb Merchandise or Trinket with my membership. Gamers who buy collectors editions are used to getting crappy plastic when they take the upsell. I like anything that supports the site personally, I've been getting hours of free entertainment for years with the bombcast alone.
